Banded together to survive, Ryan Cawdor and his companions travel the barren wastelands of a post-nuclear world. There are no laws in Deathlands—only fear, destruction and annihilation. As each day brings a new struggle, this group journeys toward the shaky promise of sanctuary.

Ryan and his friends become the subjects in a deadly experiment when they're taken captive inside a redoubt at the South Pole. A team of scientists is convinced the earth must be purified of mutants, and now they have the perfect lab rats to test their powerful bioweapon. Within Antarctica's harsh and unstable conditions, the companions must fight the odds and take down the whitecoats before millions are killed. But in this uncompromising landscape, defeating the enemy may be just another step toward a different kind of death…

Coming out of 118, I was sure that this book, being set in a cold artic setting, was going to be a letdown, but, it wasn't, it was really good. The baddies were very compelling, the story was next to perfectly paced, lotsa good action, and nothing I could really nitpick. It's an above average Deathlands, good through and through, esp coming off one of the best deathlands ever in 118.

Classic Deathlands! by Armand (Posted on 1/10/2015)
Another action packed hit with twists and turns. One will learn (again) why they hate "White Coats" and how aberrant people can behave.... too bad for the white coats!

LOL!

But, we also learn some reasons for certain things in the DL universe...

Excellent as always!

Excelllent story. Ryan & companions arrive in Antarctica nearly freezing to death on arrival and are immediately taken captive. The base is still functional and the inhabitants engaged not only in researching an alien space craft buried in the ice cap for thousands of years but planning a full scale invasion of first South America & then Deathlands using Ryan as test subject for a new bioweapon. Finding the spacecraft links up to the Outlander series with alien visitation of Earth's distant past and tampering/involvement of evolution and guiding the inhabitants to achieving the goals of several alien races to exploit the resources of a world of great potential and as yet untapped with a potential ready made slave labor force.
