Batman: Dead White

Who better than BATMAN to protect the dangerous city of GOTHAM, where even the cops are crooks? But the latest imminent terror might be too much for the burgeoning CAPED CRUSADER, who is still carving out a place for himself in the minds of GOTHAM's criminals. There's a host of deadly new weapons in BATMAN's glittering, sinister city—in the hands of a psychotic mastermind called White Eyes. With his radical murder machine, the fiendish leader of GOTHAM's racist Bavarian Brotherhood can move beyond dealing drugs and hot guns to pursue his real passion: the white supremacist takeover of America.

ADVISORY: Due to subject matter, Dead White contains realistically harsh language, including racial epithets and suggested sexual content.

Excellent overall production. However, I found that the story and politics involved in this one a touch troubling and jarring. I can only assume that the author of the story is trying to channel some the darker Batman of the recent movies and work in more realistic domestic terrorism aspects. The story was fine, just not the Batman that I'm used to.

I have loved everyone of the DC Comics by Graphic Audio. The production is awesome. This was the one book that to me fell short. Of all the awesome Batman stories out there did they pick this one? John Shirley's original story was poor. He did not understand Batman at all in the book. I can tell that the Graphic Audio staff did some great work to improve it. THE MAIN REASON I did not care for this was the "Harsh Language". It was NOT listed on the box I bought at my local gas station. So when I popped the CD in my car audio with my two sons in tow I was shocked. They are older ( 10 & 12 ) but I do not want them to listen to this trash talk. This is a "R" rated audiobook. I hope Graphic Audio does not do this kind of book again with DC Comics. A stay word here or there is OK - I'm not a prude - but let's limit it so all audiences can enjoy this great work they do.
