Batman: Inferno

GOTHAM's never been so scorching, THE JOKER's never been more despicable, and BATMAN's never been in such grave danger. With more than thirty fires raging out of control across the city, GOTHAM is indeed a hell on earth. But torching the population is small potatoes for the arsonist extraordinaire known as Enfer. The pyromaniac's mad masterpiece is ARKHAM ASYLUM, blazing like a Roman candle and engineered to provide the perfect escape for Arkham's most infamous inmate, THE JOKER. But the dire situation goes from bad to beyond monstrous when the arch villain's path to freedom leads directly to THE DARK KNIGHT's cave. THE JOKER believes in striking while the iron is hot...and now it's never been hotter. After all, the diabolical villain has devised the ultimate joke: launch the mother of all crime waves, masquerading as the Caped Crusader himself! With GOTHAM erupting in flames and its #1 crime fighter fast becoming its #1 enemy, the burning question is: Who's going to get the last laugh?

ADVISORY: Due to subject matter, Batman: Inferno contains realistically harsh language that may be offensive to some.

This is my absolute FAVORITE of the Batman titles Graphic Audio has performed thus far and by far my favorite portrayal of THE JOKER done by anyone period! I’m a huge fan of Mark Hamill’s voice acting…but Richard Rohan just takes Mistah J to that other sublime level of Clown Princely-ness I've not heard before. Plus the fact that he’s also able to effectively portray Bruce Wayne/Batman in addition to all the narration just blows me away! Quite an amazing actor! Love the chance this production affords to hear the Joker’s hilarious interior monologue (or rather Gollum-esque dialogue with himself) running throughout - thus completely immersing us in his delicious insanity! Loved how Bruce Wayne likewise was shown, via interior monologue, to be battling with the Batman within, at times barely able to repress his alter-ego like a split personality. Nice to see a bit of Bats’ loony self-contradicting side on display for a change amidst all his straight-arrow do-gooderyness! I was totally captivated with this production from start to finish! I agree with Jarod that more Batman and Joker face off stories would be FABULOUS to euphonically absorb – but can’t think of any other DC novels at the mo’ that focus so acutely on the Clown Prince of Crime dueling Bats…more’s the pity.

The Joker's voice work was good. It reminded me of Mark Hammil's interpretation. However, there is no consistency between the Batman's voice here and the Batman in other GA products. Additionally, the voice of Bruce Wayne and Batman was exactly the same in Inferno. There was no intonation change, no pitch change. Inferno is a B-list villian who goes from wanting to be recognized by the Joker to hating the Joker for not getting that recognition. This was the first GA product that I regret spending money on.
