I found trail of the gun fighter to be one of the most complete series. Starting by Nathan Stone getting back from the devastation of the civil war to find his whole family dead except for his dog. Step by step we see the transformation of a young man who once fought for what he thought was ideal for his country into a full fledged gun fighter. Drifting along the various trails that take him over land and water, he rights wrongs, and confronts the challenges of love. Branded now as a gun fighter he finds himself unable to stay in one place and thus unable to set up shop with the woman he loves. A complete tail that describes the actions some women would take to fit in such as dressing up like men and even taking up a gun. An action filled story with plenty to go around. From Indian fighting, to cattle rustling, corrupt lawyers, deception, love, and plenty of bar brawls. But ultimate, the quest of an American seeking the dream and honoring his own in the old west.
