Warbreaker (CD Series Set)

by Brandon Sanderson
17 Hours
Ages 13+
After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today's leading master of what Tolkien called "secondary creation," the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn't like his job, and the immortal who's still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.

Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Includes Warbreaker 1-3 in CD format.

Excellent must read or listen! by Luna (Posted on 1/24/2017)
Again and again GA did a wonderful job brining Sanderson vision to life, thank you!

If you are not familiar with the authors work, start with Mistborn or The stormlight Archive.

I have heard most of His books, if you like magic you will love his work. This book was wonderful, exciting and extreamly creative. The only thing that I feel could be a bit modified is the background sound overlapping the narioter at times, but not too often and I can leave with it! I hope he writes the 2nd book. Highly recommend.
Amazing! by Olin (Posted on 11/14/2016)
I bought this CD series having already listened to (and greatly enjoyed) the audiobook version. The cast of talented voice actors, the fitting musical background (that chanting fit the gods and goddesses so well, and Nightblood's dark theme was chilling), the sound effects, all of it worked to create such an immersive experience that I found it really hard to walk away from my time listening to it. Sometimes I would just sit in my car after a commute to let the scene finish- it was that good. The final climax especially (no spoilers) brought chills and tears and general feelings of awesomeness. "A movie in your mind" is actually pretty accurate- it didn't take effort to experience the story as if you were there.

My only complaint was that sometimes the sound effects and music drowned out the voices. There were a few scenes where it was hard to hear what the narrator or characters were saying because the music and effects were loud. It was still possible to make it out, but it was definitely noticeable in one or two places. It could actually only be called "a little annoying," and the fact that "a little annoying" in a couple spots is my biggest complaint is pretty great.

I really enjoyed this series. It was fantastic, and I'm considering getting more graphic audio productions. The story was wonderful and gripping, full of complex characters and engaging development, the mysteries and plot twists kept me pressing play, the world and magic system was really fleshed out (as per usual for Brandon Sanderson's stories), and this was just overall great. Good job, Graphic Audio! Full marks from me!

Like this series a lot. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the plot twisted to keep me guessing.
