Clark Kent is living in a dark world where he has no powers, no memory of ever being anything other than human. His world is controlled by mystical forces no one can challenge, with the triumvirate of Vandal Savage, Mordru and Felix Faust calling the shots. The Demon and Phantom Stranger approach Clark and tell him that he is really Superman, that alterations made more than a hundred years ago to the time stream are causing space-time fluctuations that will result in this particular reality becoming the sole reality, unless something is done. Since Superman is powerless in this reality and since the alterations were made in the past, the three heroes have to travel into the past, specifically into the American Southwest of the 1870s, where Jonah Hex, Bat Lash and other DC Western heroes help them set things right again.

Interesting by Derrick (Posted on 2/6/2019)
The more I read DC, there are certain characters that I enjoy. This one introduces some new characters which was nice. I've listened to enough GraphicAudio at this point as well that it's always funny to recognize a voice for a character from another character.
Rather enjoyable by William (Posted on 1/7/2019)
I've been meaning to listen to this one for a long time. I found it quite enjoyable and really easy to get into. A very good story that goes into some of the lesser known dc characters (the western ones and the mystical). I loved the inclusion of satanna and doctor occult as well.
Weird Western by ZJ (Posted on 8/11/2018)
This story, the DCU version of a weird western, isn't the best DC story, but it's definitely fun. The time travel element provides the opportunity for an unconventional team-up story with numerous contrasting characters. Having Jonah Hex, The Phantom Stranger, and Superman in the same story may seem weird, and it is, but it also works surprisingly well. The story also features magic, which puts Superman in a place of greater vulnerability than in more typical Superman stories. The story is admittedly a bit twisty and requires a fair amount of attention to keep up with, but that's not a bad thing in my book. Another solid adaptation from GA.

I love time travel stories by Deon (Posted on 1/21/2018)
An original story and unlikely team-up of some characters I never thought i'd see together. The inclusion of one of my favorite western heroes didn't hurt this drama at all. 4-stars! I was surprised that this one kept my attention. A truly pleasant surprise. Super job GA (no pun intended).
Truck driver by Sean (Posted on 1/20/2018)
Bought this when it came out on CD and loved it then, just as I love it now. Superman teaming up with Konah was great. Those who have read comics, know Superman doesn’t like magic, which makes this all the greater.

Time travel, magic, pure evil and other things make this great.

Excellent story, as expected from Graphic Audio. Download process was quick and easy! Will definitely continue listening so keep them coming! Thanks
Trail of Time by Bos (Posted on 3/5/2017)
When I read that Jonah Hex was in it I was excited but he didn't do much, it more about Superman. but still good.
Production work awesome!!! by Eric (Posted on 2/20/2017)
Another case of GA doing an amazing job with mediocre source material!!!!! It really feels like GA cut their DC Teeth on some simpler stories before moving into the more intricate and complicated tales like Final Crisis and some of the Marvel stuff. Nicely entertaining.
Fun adaptation by Tom (Posted on 10/28/2015)
Something different from the DC Universe and a pretty good adaptation. I was impressed by the audio effects and characterizations.Well organized and scripted - could have easily been a difficult plot to follow with all the jumps to backstory and subplots.
Another great DC title by Idongesit (Posted on 4/17/2015)
This is my second DC GraphicAudio listen and I have been enjoying it often. You get time travel, three good DC mystic villains & a cavalcade of heroes from different eras. If you like Superman and want to see him in a different way, or just want something different download this.
Another favorite by Luke (Posted on 2/24/2015)
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this production. I never read Jonah Hex comics and don't have strong feelings about the character in any direction. Ultimately, I found myself extremely surprised and delighted with this tale. Ultimately, it ignited an interest in DC's mystical characters. I really enjoyed delving into that quadrant of the DC Universe. The cast of characters was unique, interesting, and worked well together. I enjoyed the character piece on Clark Kent/Superman and the different locations the story brought the listener. Great performances throughout and the production excellence I've come to expect from Graphic Audio. These guys are doing it right! More like this, please!
Trail of Time by Bryce (Posted on 9/25/2014)
While not as good as some of the other productions of DC stories I've seen, it does hold up pretty well with an intriguing storyline, good characters, and a rather satisfying conclusion.
Took a long time... by Wayne (Posted on 9/22/2014)
This one took a long time to get there but it finally gets there and Superman wins. But it takes forever to get there. I don't read a lot of comics so I don't know all the characters. Everytime there is a new character I have to learn all about them to understand the story. This one just took a long time to get to the point and all the switching between characters can almost get you lost if your not familiar with the story. The second listen might be better.
One Of The Best... by Michael Bailey (Posted on 3/3/2014)
...DC adaptations in the Graphic Audio library. This one is part adventure story, part fantasy story, part period piece and part Superman story. The actors portraying the old west characters, especially Jonah Hex and Bat Lash, do a fantastic job and once again James Konicek delivers a magnificent performance as Superman. If you like stories where characters you wouldn't normally associate with each other team up to save the world then this one is for you.
Great movie in your mind by Brian (Posted on 8/29/2013)
Jonah Hex Rules. great semi-western
Sound effects and music accompany each scene and punctuate moments of drama and horseback riding. by AudioFile Magazine (Posted on 8/20/2013)
Grab the popcorn and settle in for a ride through time and parallel universes starring Clark Kent aka Superman, the Demon Etrigan, and the Phantom Stranger, who team up with DC 1870s Western heroes Jonah Hex and Bat Lash to save the universe from the evil cooked up by Vandal Savage, Mordu, and Felix Faust. The good guys chase the villains through time and universes to keep the world safe. Sound effects and music accompany each scene and punctuate moments of drama and horseback riding. The principal narrator’s gravelly voice draws the listener into adventure stories that will have them cheering for their favorite heroes. M.B.K. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine

pretty good story, voices as always are great. really enjoyable to listen to. it's always good to get a story that uses the phantom stranger. her's an unused interesting character. this story isn't quite as good as dead white or hero's quest but i would highly recomend it.
Review by Jeffery Noesser (Posted on 5/23/2013)
As a rating of Audiobooks, this is far and away better than any other brand of ABs out there. This story and performance in comparison to other Graphic Audio performances is about average. So far I have Flash, Green Lantern and two of the Batmans. I would say that, although excellent, the story is not quite as excellent as the others. The performances are always fantastic with GA.

This turned out to be a great listen on my way to work and home. I would only get about 15 minutes in a day but it way like getting a issue of the whole story. I liked it and will try others.
Review by Andrew Teller (Posted on 5/23/2013)
I loved everything about this book. The story runs more like a western then a comic book which only added to my enjoyment. I really hope that they keep making these "Tales of the Weird West" style stories because it really make a long drive go by fast. I actually turned off the voice on my GPS for talking to much while I was trying to listen to this great Graphic audio production.
Review by John Haslach (Posted on 5/23/2013)
I bought this and Last Sons. Of the two, this is my favorite. This is definitely a movie in your mind. The characters are all fleshed out with no one being left out. The character that I feel gains the most development though is Superman, with Jeff Mariotte giving him one of the best story arcs I have ever heard. Get this story.
