My name is Hedi Peacock and I have a secret. I'm not human, and I have the pointy Fae ears and Were inner-bitch to prove it. As fairy tales go, my childhood was damn near perfect, all fur and magic until a werewolf killed my father and the Fae executed my mother. I've never forgiven either side. Especially Robson Trowbridge. He was a part-time werewolf, a full-time bastard, and the first and only boy I ever loved. That is, until he became the prime suspect in my father's death…

Today I'm a half-breed barista working at a fancy coffee house, living with my loopy Aunt Lou and a temperamental amulet named Merry, and wondering where in the world I'm going in life. A pretty normal existence, considering. But when a pack of Weres decides to kidnap my aunt and force me to steal another amulet, the only one who can help me is the last person I ever thought I'd turn to: Robson Trowbridge. And he's as annoyingly beautiful as I remember. That's the trouble with fate: Sometimes it barks. Other times it bites. And the rest of the time it just breaks your heart. Again…

A strong opening, with an uncertain ending by Bryon (Posted on 8/10/2018)
Leigh Evans "Mystwalker" is a supernatural romance and in many ways brings out the best and the worst elements of that genre. Protagonist Hedi Peacock is half-werewolf and half-fae, and constantly struggling with both sides of her personality and supernatural abilities. This sometimes means angst, pining romance and brooding; but also some really great scenes of supernatural action and some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments.

Hedi's one true love, Robson Trowbridge, crashes unexpectedly back into her life and propels her into a plot exploring powers she has long hidden that take her to multiple other worlds, where ancient wizards and insidious warlocks try and use her as a pawn in their plans for power.

The first three books really naturally build on each other, developing, then breaking, then testing Hedi and Trowbridge's relationship. Unfortunately, Book 4: The Danger of Destiny, doesn't quite wrap things up neatly. There are a lot of lingering threads from the previous book that don't quite get resolved neatly, and it feels as though Evans is trying to leave room for more while also finishing everything with a neat bow. This leads to a rushed conclusion, where the big villains plans seem half-finished and the conclusion to the story feels like an after-thought.

Additionally, as a previous reviewer noted, this is definitely a romance, so expect Hedi's narration to occasionally get a bit on the blue side.

As always, the GraphicAudio cast is game to explore new genres and parts that aren't the same as their previous work, and the voice work, music and sound effects are top notch.

If you enjoy teen dramas, romances, urban fantasy or supernatural love stories, Mystwalker just might be your jam.
Language Warning, disappointed! by Raymond (Posted on 9/20/2017)
I wasn't able to share this series with younger listeners because of the language in it, I wish there was a warning for that. I don't understand why some writers think that kind of language is necessary to tell a great story.
The series itself should be titled something else, since she never really does much as a "MystWalker" she doesn't even figure out what it is till near the end of the first book so the sci-fi is based more on werewolves and not as much on the "MystWalker" element they tempt you with in the title.
I did enjoy some aspects of the series but it would have been better if I could have shared the experience with others and was able to hear their thoughts on it.
