After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today's leading master of what Tolkien called "secondary creation," the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn't like his job, and the immortal who's still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.

Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Includes Warbreaker Parts 1-3 in downloadable formats.

Colours.... by Conrad (Posted on 12/2/2018)
Another interesting entry in Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere. This is my least favourite of the Cosmere. The ending felt a bit rushed to me. But it is still a solid entry in how it still holds up as a good Cosmere story. Reveals are still quite dramatic and mind blowing. Maybe a little less mind blowing than usual.

Graphic Audio sounds design is still superb as usual. The magic system sounds with the breaths are oddly similar to the breathing in stormlight from the Stormlight Archive series. I wonder if this is by virtue of the same sound designer or is Brandon Sanderson Brewing something in our midst through graphic audio???... We may not know.

Other than that, Tim Gettman is a great actor. However, I still hear him as Adolin Kholin all the time since I listened to Stormlight Archive first. This might have influenced how I took in the book. Very small knit pick but just my feedback as a fellow Graphic Audio fan.
Can't go wrong with the series set by ZJ (Posted on 8/30/2018)
I enjoyed Warbreaker more than Elantris, which was the first Sanderson story I listened to from GA. With Elantris, I recommended purchasing the first part individually just to see if you'll get into it enough to want to get the second and third parts. With Warbreaker, I say go ahead and grab the series set. You won't be disappointed if you're a fan of the genre, of Sanderson's work, or if you're open-minded and looking for a good place to start with the epic/high fantasy genre.

The acting and music are excellent in this production. Sound design is also great, with the sonic representations of the story's biochromatic magic being the highlight of the productions. As with Elantris, there are places in this production where the sound mix isn't quite what it should be. My recommendation is to listen to as much of this story with headphones as possible, because it makes the flaws in the audio mix much less of a problem.

Overall, if you like high/epic fantasy or Brandon Sanderson stories, definitely pick up the series set. I recommend the same to anybody who is open-minded and looking for a good place to start either with the genre or with Sanderson's work.
