Graphic Audio Actor Submissions
We record remotely with actors all over the world!
Prerequisites for being on our roster:
- Passing our subjective assessment of whether your vocal work is right for our needs at this time.
- Having a home studio set-up that passes our technical assessment (It’s about the sound, versus having an actual booth- some very “modest” closet setups can potentially pass. Our actors often need to record loud vocal efforts, so being set up to adjust the gain easily mid-session is important. A space that can allow for loud vocals without issues is as well,) NOTE: Being local to Rockville, MD (Metro Washington DC) can be an exception to the home studio requirement.
General information about setting up home studios can be found here: LINK COMING SOON
We audition primarily for inclusion in our roster of actors who will be under consideration to play dialogue roles, rather than narration. (Narrators are often then selected from our acting pool).
If actors are asked to audition for roster inclusion, they would not be auditioning for a particular role or project. If added to the roster, an actor may be asked to audition for specific roles in the future, but for the most part, they will be assigned roles by directors which they may accept or reject on a case-by-case basis.
Our product is sold as “Graphic Audio® — A Movie in Your Mind®”. We have been releasing immersive audiobooks since 2004. Stories are adapted from the novels and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music! This is not a traditional audiobook performance. We look for actors who can lift the dialogue off the page and breathe life into it, immersing the character in the environment and circumstances of the story. We aim to have our actors present engaging storytelling through grounded, compelling, and committed acting choices.
If planning to submit, we highly recommend you listen to these scenes, with a focus on the dialogue. Get a sense of some of the range of styles of performance we use, which can vary widely book-to-book and genre-to-genre. More samples are available on our website store: www.GraphicAudio.net
If you’d like to be considered for our roster, please read, fill out, and submit the Google Form for your materials to be delivered to our Casting Director. They will contact you if we wish to schedule an audition appointment.
What happens to my submission?
The casting directors will review the submission within 2-4 months and get back to you only if you are chosen to audition.
Six months after submission you can assume you were not selected at this time. Feel free to resubmit after that point, especially if you have new material to present.
Note: we have a very high volume of submissions, and do not have auditions running consistently throughout the year.
Please fill out your information in our Google Form (LINK).
If you have interest in narrating traditional audiobooks for Recorded Books or Tantor Audio, you could also email [email protected].
Thank you for interest!
