3 : Elantris (3 of 3)

by Brandon Sanderson
Jun 1, 2009
6 Hours
Ages 13+
The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.

The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod",a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...ten years ago.

Some nice twists and reveals by Tyler (Posted on 8/31/2018)
Great conclusion to the story. It had some twists that I didn't see coming and escalated very quickly. I thought there were some strange has where the story seemed to skip. I had to check my player to make sure that wasn't the case.

I felt that the sound didn't drown out the actors like the other two but maybe I was just used to it. Whatever it was, the sounds were great and I'm always amazed at the talent of the voice actors and narrator.

Looking forward to my next graphic audio story!
Good conclusion by ZJ (Posted on 8/22/2018)
To quickly recap from my first two reviews: I don't usually get into epic fantasy but a friend recommended this story to me and I decided to listen to the GA adaptation before reading the book in hopes I could get more into the story that way.

Because I was just trying to get into this story as a bridge to the epic fantasy genre, I actively tried to only take the story in, rather than picking at it as I do with genres I'm more familiar with and of which I'm more of a fan. For that reason, the ending took a different direction than I was expecting. It was really pretty good, open-ended enough that the author could return to write more titles in this world later but also sufficient if he decided not to.

Production for this third part of the story, as it was with the first two parts, was not quite up to the quality of GA's newer titles, but was still very good and didn't detract much from the overall presentation. By this third part, I was used to James Konicek narrating instead of Rick Rohan and really enjoyed his work in that role.

I enjoyed this story more than I expected to when I started the first part and I've since gone on to check out some of Sanderson's other work, both in novel format and as GA productions. All in all, this was a good intro to Sanderson's work and actually did get me a bit more interested in the epic fantasy genre.
Decent Ending by Leslie (Posted on 8/19/2018)
I guess we always want more! I was hoping to see more of the Elantris recovery and a back story of the characters, but I absolutely love the inspiration of this book!
Not Quite, But Still Really Good! by Spencer (Posted on 7/13/2018)
This final conflict wasn't really built up perfectly, but the Graphic Audio conflicts are so great. You really get invested in this!

I'm excited for Brandon to write a new book in this series, because there are so many things that could still fit into this world!
Buy this book, Kolo? by Gavin McNeil (Posted on 6/14/2018)
Great ending to a Great first Novel. Anyone who enjoyed this should try out some other Cosmere titles- such as Warbreaker, Mistborn, and Stormlight Archives. Sanderson is the, my eyes, the greatest Fantasy Author living. He has redefined the Genre.
Conclusion by Ryan (Posted on 6/1/2018)
What a breathtaking conclusion to this stand alone novel. So cool and so well performed. I’m hooked
Very nice ending of a very good book! by Patrick (Posted on 4/30/2018)
Very nice ending of a very good book!
Phenomenal set by Ryan (Posted on 2/4/2017)
I loved the completeness of a stand alone book that could be expanded but is enough on its own. Well done
A Fantastically Strong Ending by Cassiopeia (Posted on 5/5/2016)
Elantris is easily my favorite Brandon Sanderson book and, quite possibly, my favorite book of all time. So imagine my surprise when I learned that GraphicAudio had not only done a rendition of the book as an audio play, but that they did it so well. The music was phenomenal and I loved how they represented the different types of magic used. The voice cast was also amazing with special praise for the voices of Raoden, Galladon, and Hrathen. The only voice I wasn't especially fond of was Serene's. She sounded too old and too...rough for the strong yet refined princess of Taod. The actress did, however, have a good grasp of the character and, for the most part, I was able to enjoy her performance. All in all, a fantastic rendition of Brandon Sanderson's first book and a fabulous recommendation for GraphicAudio. This final part of the trilogy is especially well done as the actors and director expertly balanced the drama with the action making me feel, quite happily, as if I were watching a movie in my mind :)
A fantastic finish by Steven (Posted on 3/10/2016)
His book was amazing and the finish had me emotionally drawn into it. Sanderson is not afraid of showing characters flaws or their failures. The book has a climatic ending! I'm sad that this is a stand-alone book.
review by Annie (Posted on 1/21/2016)
So my friend gave me this graphic audio book for my birthday (and that's how I was introduced me to Graphic Audio). She knew I loved Sanderson's other books (she introduced me to him ;p) and that I loved audiobooks... IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING GIFT EVER! The Elantris theme song by Graphic Audio is stuck in my head forever. I seriously cannot read the paperback now, the experience is just below the amount of awesome revived when listened to Graphic Audio!

I just wish Graphic audio books were cheaper as with the current US to CAD rates (i'm in Canada) the books cost a whooping $20 canadian per 1/3 of the book with a total of $40-$60 for the whole book!!

great finish by Lionel (Posted on 9/4/2015)
Not exactly how I pictured this finishing, which is refreshing. Sanderson and Graphic Audio have another masterpiece with this series. All Sanderson's work translates so well into this format. Need to hear "Way of Kings" soon!!!
Awesome by Arthur (Posted on 6/3/2015)

Blown away, times three by Meagan (Posted on 3/23/2015)
I read this authors book "Warbreaker" long before I discovered graphic audio. I love his writing then, thinking it would make an amazing movie.

So, when I found out he wrote this too, I had to get the graphic audio immediately. It has intrigue, romance, mystery, action, more action, excellent acting, and just... Oh man. You won't be let down at all.

Yes, it starts out slow, but if you give it a chance, it will become one of your favorites.

Highly recommended!!!
Elantris 3 Finale by John (Posted on 3/8/2015)
I often listen to this finale independently while doing other things, it's very fulfilling.

Between Brent Weeks and Brandon Sanderson, my mind's eye is sensationalized. I am enthralled to reach out for each upcoming release.

Johann Dettweiler seems to be the mastermind for this genre types. Thank you Johann.

The voice actors bring such variety and their accents sweeten the story. The music scores added notably behind the dialog evoke emotion, the sound effects amaze the mind.

All this added and mixed properly transforms a latent paged novel into "The Movie in my Mind."
Great. by tyler (Posted on 10/24/2014)
I must admit that the ending took a great turn. Things do not go as planned.
Fantastically awesome by Bryant (Posted on 9/2/2014)

Elantris 3 : Elantris (3 of 3) by TIM (Posted on 10/3/2013)
I bought three sets. I have listened to them three times already. My disc 5 of six of part three of this series was damaged so I am Missing from them being in the home of the uncle of the princess after the collapse of the entry skips to how the princess and the bad guy in her homeland talking of hiding. I am going to have family video resurface damaged disc. I am going to purchase the book because if this a dramatization of the book I cannot wait to sit and read the book. I goofed up and submitted this review twice I Typed this title in the title line and it was submitted while in Elantris 2: 2 of 3 and the page submitted it with a changed the title.. So Opps I have two reviews for part 2. I LOVE THIS SERIES...
