3 : Warbreaker (3 of 3)

by Brandon Sanderson
Dec 1, 2009
6 Hours
Ages 13+
After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today's leading master of what Tolkien called "secondary creation," the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn't like his job, and the immortal who's still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.

Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Fantastic conclusion by ZJ (Posted on 8/30/2018)
Sanderson doesn’t disappoint with the conclusion of Warbreaker. All the careful crafting on display in the first two parts brings the listener to one hell of a final showdown.

I’ve read a lot of books, and seen a lot of movies, that employ plot twists. I can often pick them up before they happen. Somehow though, Sanderson has caught me with the twists in all of his work that I’ve read. So far, I’ve only experienced his work through GA productions, and that maybe has something to do with it. GA creates such immersive worlds and soundscapes that I get caught up in the story and just seeing how it turns out, so I don’t catch the twists coming. It’s pretty cool actually.

Music, sound design, and acting can’t be beat here, or in any other GA productions. Like I said in my reviews for the first two parts, just use headphones to alleviate any problems with the rougher parts of the audio mix for this title.

A great story by Sanderson and great work by GA. I’m certain that I’ll be visiting other of Sanderson’s stories in the Graphic Audio format.
Very worth the buy by Mr. Ryan P (Posted on 6/1/2018)
This book concluded an awesome book
Fantastic! by Micah (Posted on 2/26/2017)
Brandon Sanderson writes very good fantasy and gaphic audio's production makes his world come alive vividly!
Wonderful book by Avi (Posted on 9/14/2016)
Brandon Sanderson really pushes the ideas of magic and deification. It definitely took me longer than normal to get into this one, it might be one of his more complex magic systems overall, but well worth the payoff! And the easter eggs from this book in some of his others are awesome!
An entirely excellent production by Amy (Posted on 7/26/2016)
Realized I never left a review on here! The entire audio drama was brilliant, as I knew it would be. This final part was no exception. The action was amazing, the suspense nearly killed me, and SUSEBRON!! That's all I'll say about that, but rest assured, Susebron has always been a favorite of mine. I was once again wowed by Graphic Audio, and I can't wait to keep listening to their titles for years to come.
Achingly Beautiful by Cassiopeia (Posted on 5/5/2016)
One of Brandon Sanderson's more complex stories, and quite possibly GraphicAudio's best work (that I've heard). This colorful world is brought fully to life with brilliantly conceived and executed accents and music that add that extra definition to Sanderson's culturally rich world. The characters are handed masterfully and everything has an extra level of care and dedication that makes this work feel so complete in every way. Warbreaker is undoubtedly another win for both Sanderson and GraphicAudio.
Excellent by Jonathan (Posted on 3/27/2016)
After listening to and being very disappointed with the Graphic Audio version of Elantris, I almost didn't buy any more books from them. I'm glad that I changed my mind.

For of all, the story itself is excellent—an intriguing magic system, a vibrant world, and multi-layered, likable characters. Nothing in this story is what it initially appears to be, and well-placed reveals made for quite a ride.

The voice acting was similarly excellent--the casting in particular was spot on. All of the voices fit the characters perfectly. My one complaint with the production is that the sound effects, could, at times, feel a bit overused, but it generally wasn't too disruptive.

(This review applies all three parts, because I really can't talk about them separately. They're fragments of a single story, and the story--not the parts--is what stands out in my memory.)
An exciting conclusion by Steven (Posted on 3/10/2016)
Epic final battle and Sanderson does a great job at tying all the loose ends together and gives you a sense of fulfillment. Huge plot twists and surprises.
Took My Breath Away by S. Patel (Posted on 2/20/2016)
Such an epic ending. I want a sequel!
WOW by Annie (Posted on 1/21/2016)
This AMAZING book + Graphic Audio's AMAZING presentation = experience of a lifetime! I would say it's better then the movies! You get the full complexity of an amazing book by the very experienced Brandon Sanderson while your imagination is assisted by a variety of sounds, different voices and sound effects! And all of this you can experience the go! Beyond amazing. Sometime when I get enough money, I will buy Graphic Audio copies of all Brandon Sanderson books I already own in hardcopies or ebooks!

Another excellent book
Best Part of the Series Yet by Thomas (Posted on 11/5/2014)
Part I and Part II were both fantastic. But it is Part III where things really start to take off. Just a warning. Once you get two hours into part III, it will be nearly impossible to turn this production off.
Epic Conclusion by Travis (Posted on 8/30/2014)
Graphic Audio does it again. I'm loving this. I'm so glad I stumbled upon GA while searching for audio books when I as getting ready for a long road trip this summer. The production value is high, and the voice acting superb.

I really enjoyed this story. I was enthralled since the beginning and listening to it became one of the highlights of my day after a long numbing day at work.

excellent production - highly addictive!
Review by Johnny Tai (Posted on 5/23/2013)
Fantastic last part- lots of twists and turns and some actual battles and large scale chaos- all making for a great finale. Fantastic performance by David C on the part of Lightsong- he truly seemed devastated...

Strange how Blue Fingers' voice kinda changed near the end there though- almost like he all of a sudden got older or something.

Love the revelation by Lightsong's priest about his past- when he was screaming at Lightsong...that was great! Good job Richard R!
