Western Little Bytes
Werewolf

by Max Brand
May 1, 2013
2.5 Hours
Ages 13+
Werewolf by Max Brand in Western Story Magazine (12/18/26) involves just such an inward journey for Christopher Royal who is convinced he is a coward and flees a confrontation with Harry Main who is a gunfighter. There comes a time in this story — when Christopher encounters the aged Indian, the old wise man — that the terrain shimmers with the multiple affinities of meaning conjured by the unconscious, which Vergil once sought to capture within an image both awesome and sinister: numina magna deum [the great divine power of a god].

This story was originally included in Great American Westerns 4.

Reviews

A Great Story by Jack (Posted on 3/26/2014)
One ot those stories that you just cannot quit listening. It was masterfully played out by Graphic Audio story tellers and players. Maybe you had a situation in life that you thought you were a coward because you avoided a fight and you wish time and again you would have fought or would have had something to push you to it. The mother in this story knew that her son was great and just needed to be pushed to the limit.
