Byrnes Family Ranch
8 : Pray For The Dead

by Dusty Richards
Jan 3, 2017
7 Hours
Ages 13+
The American frontier comes alive in this blazing saga of Chet Byrnes and his family empire by Western Heritage and Spur award-winning author Dusty Richards…

The Byrnes family has fought fiercely for its ranching empire. And with success comes the fate of empires: The Byrnes have taken in far-flung family members, hired hands and folks looking for another chance at life. The Byrnes clan has taken their fair share of hurt, too, taking on outlaws too deadly and powerful for the law.

When a stage is robbed of a fortune in gold, the Byrnes boys set off on a wild race through the wilderness. But who are the men they are chasing? And where have they stashed the gold? In a harsh, unforgiving land, the Byrnes men face a mystery of gold and death--that could explode like a bomb in their hands...

I really don't care for the main character and the narrator to be the same voice.

It amazes me how much his 2nd wife likes going good with him on all husband cases

Its with a heavy heart that I had to write this one. I love the series, and I also will point blank say I love Scott's acting. But sadly the narration this time around is really weak sounding, and the double role detracts from the acting. This is a great series as I said, and the story line comes to live incredibly, but with those oddities it really suffered quality this time in my enjoyment. Chet is such a strong character that the double role really does not work for listening as it feels too much like an audio book rather than a play. I love GA and this is really difficult to write specially since this series is so strong and Scott really brings out such a cool character with Chet.
