For six years, former temple assassin Aral Kingslayer has been living as a jack of the shadow trades, picking up odd jobs on the wrong side of the law. But the past is never dead, and Aral’s has finally caught up to him in the beautiful, dangerous form of Jax Seldansbane—a fellow Blade and Aral’s onetime fiancée.

Jax claims that the forces that destroyed everything Aral once held dear are on the move again, and she needs his help to stop them. But Aral has a new life now, with a fresh identity and new responsibilities. And while he isn’t keen on letting the past back in, the former assassin soon finds himself involved in a war that will leave him with no way out and no idea who to trust…

More adventures of Aral and Triss, featuring Faran by Amanda (Posted on 8/19/2018)
...but this time, we also get more of Faran, who I wish got more development in the series than I remember her getting. Still, I love her voice actress, and her character. She's a great addition to the series, and I do like the moments between her and Aral. Though it's definitely told to us that Aral and Faran, and even their shades, butt heads a lot, that's not focused on much at all. To emphasize this, we hardly get to see any of it, and I think that's fair, considering that the focus of the series isn't to make Aral into a family man - if it were, then focusing much time on father-daughter/teacher-student relationship between the two would make sense.

Like the other two installments, it's considered a "shorter" work, and has a lot of action packed into it to keep things lively and moving. One of the staples of this series, in my opinion, are the characters, especially ones that are or end up being recurring. Jax is one that shows up here and will be important later, though I feel she did not get the focus or development she could have received, considering how much she does and goes through for the sake of others...

Exciting Story by Travis (Posted on 4/25/2016)
The twists and turns the story takes are always nice. I can't really predict what will happen, unlike some other fantasy. McCullough does great with this. And CROSSED BLADES introduces some more Blades from Aral's past, and it was great to learn more about that. GA's production is, of course, amazing. I really liked the background music they had for this one, really added to the atmosphere of the scenes. Great voice acting too. Looking forward to listening to the next in this series.

These books are very interesting, but more importantly I like that i can't predict to much. The voices for graphic audio and the sound score have always been amazing. These books are a twist, and i give my honest recommendation.
