An empire at war. Three fates intertwined.

The Magician. Horace has destroyed the Temple of the Sun, but now he finds his slave chains have been replaced by bonds of honor, duty, and love. Caught between two women and two cultures, he must contend with deadly forces from the unseen world.

The Rebel. Jirom has thrown in his lot with the slave uprising, but his road to freedom becomes ever more dangerous as the rebels expand their campaign against the empire. Even worse, he feels his connection with Emanon slipping away with every blow they strike in the name of freedom.

The Spy. Alyra has severed her ties to the underground network that brought her to Akeshia, but she continues the mission on her own. Yet, with Horace’s connection to the queen and the rebellion’s escalation of violence, she finds herself treading a knife’s edge between love and duty.

Dark conspiracies bubble to the surface as war and zealotry spread across the empire. Old alliances are shattered, new vendettas are born, and all peoples—citizen and slave alike—must endure the ravages of storm and steel.

Reviews

slow but good by mike (Posted on 2/5/2017)
Again, GA hits it out of the park. The series moves a touch slow, but I have to say I still like it. It's great world building and characters ...
Fun Listen by Travis (Posted on 7/3/2016)
Sprunk takes what he did in the first book and expands, making it more epic and wider in scope. I like the fantasy elements and the political intrigue. I didn't really find the rebel storyline all that interesting, perhaps because known of the characters were compelling enough for me, or just too predictable in their actions. GA, of course, does a marvelous job adapting it, the voice acting is on point, as is the music and sound effects.
Good book by angela (Posted on 6/18/2016)
The only reason I give it 3 atarts is because there is a part in the book where the author made a mistake and mentioned a character being involved with something that the main character ahould not yet have known that is kind of a big slip in my opinion but with that being said I am really enjoying the series!
Well written and performed. Kudos! by Victor (Posted on 12/19/2015)
