An empire at war. Three fates intertwined.

The Magician. Horace has destroyed the Temple of the Sun, but now he finds his slave chains have been replaced by bonds of honor, duty, and love. Caught between two women and two cultures, he must contend with deadly forces from the unseen world.

The Rebel. Jirom has thrown in his lot with the slave uprising, but his road to freedom becomes ever more dangerous as the rebels expand their campaign against the empire. Even worse, he feels his connection with Emanon slipping away with every blow they strike in the name of freedom.

The Spy. Alyra has severed her ties to the underground network that brought her to Akeshia, but she continues the mission on her own. Yet, with Horace’s connection to the queen and the rebellion’s escalation of violence, she finds herself treading a knife’s edge between love and duty.

Dark conspiracies bubble to the surface as war and zealotry spread across the empire. Old alliances are shattered, new vendettas are born, and all peoples—citizen and slave alike—must endure the ravages of storm and steel.

Pretty Good by William (Posted on 1/25/2018)
I like the story and production. Marked down one star because the queen's heavy accent is annoying. Just tell the story! GA is getting too focused on forcing distracting accents into the stories. We're listening in English. We want a story in English. Don't force an accent. If the queen is talking she's either talking in a language we don't understand or in English. GA, you are translating into English for the listener so no accent is needed. You make it sound like she's in a foreign land speaking a foreign language when she's actually in her homeland. People in their homeland don't have accents.

Oh, I hope Sprunk comes up with book 3 soon so GA can masterfully adapt it. I generally hate cliffhangers, unless I know I can get to the next book soon, but this one was nicely set up. I like the character exchanges, and there was actually a part in the story that surprised me. Terence Aselford continues to be my favorite narrator. He's perfect for the fantasy genre. The voice acting, especially by the core characters is great, and the music and sound effects continue to just enrich the listening experience.
