Nuclear Bombshell
1 : The Plutonium Blonde

by John Zakour and Lawrence Ganem
Sep 1, 2012
6 Hours
Ages 13+

My name is Zachary Nixon Johnson. The year is 2057 and, after a handful of species-altering upheavals, Earth-shattering cataclysms, history-changing extraterrestrial contacts, and pop-culture disasters, the world is now a pretty safe place. But, of course, as in times past, people still run the shades-of-gray gamut from good to evil. There are still cops and robbers, saints and sinners, voters and politicians. And every once in a while some crazy thing happens that threatens all of society, all of humanity, even the entire space-time continuum.

And for some reason it always happens on my watch.

So when B. B. Starr, the ex-exotic dancer who is now the CEO of ExShell, the largest corporation on the planet, hires me for a particularly sensitive assignment, I naturally expect the worst. After all, B. B. Starr is one of the richest and most powerful people on Earth--why does she need me? But even with the help of HARV--my annoyingly precise holographic assistant, who's the most intelligent computer on Earth--implanted directly into my brain (don't ask), this assignment sounds like more than I can handle. For B. B. Starr wants me to locate and disable BB-2, an android replica of B. B. herself. An android with a plutonium core, 160 times stronger, 176 times more durable, 200 times faster, with senses far more acute, and a vastly higher IQ than normal carbon-based humans. How can I hope to find and deactivate a bad-attitude, hell-bent, nuclear-powered, super android that looks like an exotic dancer and might even be smarter than HARV?

Future Detective by Victoria (Posted on 8/16/2018)
1950's cinematic detective living in a futuristic science fiction world. A not so obvious mystery case gets solved all the while Zachery does not take himself too seriously.

I enjoyed the tongue in cheek snarky humor of this computer sidekick. Great voice acting, interesting voice manipulations and always love the music and sound effects. I am excited to listen to the next ones in the series
Great Mystery! by James (Posted on 5/16/2018)
What can I say, old dective style story from the 20s set in the future. By far the comments of the robot side kick was the best! Like a good old dective work, this is the listen.
Fun Mystery by Daniel (Posted on 11/18/2017)
It is like Humphrey Bogart detective was dropped in the future. The mystery was really well done. I was able to call it pretty soon and its kind of obvious but there was a big twist at the end. I am not sure how I feel about some of the odd TV scene or the psychics but I think it can grow on me and I am interested to hear more. It pretty funny too not laugh my head off but more snickers.

Nuclear bombshell: The plutonium blond by Juan (Posted on 10/1/2016)
I just finish this audio And it was very funny. I can wait to listen to the second one. I was having a great time listening to the Zachary and HARV. It remind me of a comedy team of the old Hollywood.
One of the best stories I've heard in a while by Amy (Posted on 7/14/2016)
Been on a GA kick lately, and this one might just be my favorite. Wow, was this story excellent. I rarely read sci-fi, or listen to it. This story was an excellent sci-fi book, with a fantastic dose of noir added in. I loved Zachary Nixon Johnson, as well as Harv. Harv stole the show if I'm being honest. His voice was just a pleasure to listen to, as well as his banter with Zack. I loved the characters and learning about the world. I also loved Elektra, and wish there was more of her (I hope there is in the upcoming books. I also loved the twists. I genuinely did not see them coming, and gasped audibly when I discovered them. That's rare for me, so this book gets extra points for the element of surprise.

Again, GA knows what they are doing when it comes to production. They never fail with the quality of the adaptation, to the absolutely stellar voice acting. The acting always shines through, making me love the characters even more. It really is a movie in your mind.

I consumed this in basically a day, and cannot wait to purchase the second book and be transported back into this world.
Nuclear Bombshell series by Jason (Posted on 1/11/2016)
All im going to say is this. You would be nuts to pass on this series. This is hands down Graphic Audios finest work. Thank you guys. Keep it up.
WOW by Lionel (Posted on 11/10/2015)
All I can say is that this is soooo funny! Buy it, you won't regret it!
Bought a bunch of the cd's from ebay in this series, and after listening to the first one, I don't regret it at all!
Money Well Spent by Tyler (Posted on 8/23/2015)
Nuclear Bombshell is an excellent Futuristic Detective story, This is the first one I listened to and has kept me coming back for the rest of them. Awesome characters and stories.
Nuclear Bombshell review by Michael (Posted on 8/1/2015)
There aren't enough words to tell how good this book is. Like all Graphic Audio works, the production standards are fantastic, and the interpretation of the book exquisite.

The 5 + hours of this book made time fly, and made it enjoyable.

Definitely worth a purchase.

Well presented good story that had lots of laughs!
Fantastic! by Howard (Posted on 4/9/2015)
This is a great story with fun characters and lots of genuinely funny gags. The performances, music and sound effects are excellent. This is my favorite audio series, ever.
Movie in your Mind by Jermane (Posted on 2/27/2015)
A movie in your mind that is the moniker of the Graphic Audio, and in this story I could very well see this. While I was listening to this all I could think about was that this story was like Blade Runner as a Comedy; I am seriously thinking about getting more of this series.
Holy Gates!! by Idongesit (Posted on 1/11/2015)
This story was even more epic than the Peach Blonde Bomber, the twists and out of nowhere surprises still caught me after repeated listens. Zakour's prose gets better and better, the antagonists are great and the mystery is excellent. If you haven't checked out this series, what the DOS are you waiting on?
great book by Craig (Posted on 1/11/2015)
Really funny, due to my laughing I had to back it up to hear parts I missed.
Detective Stories with a twist! by Armand (Posted on 11/10/2014)
Never was interested in detective stories so much other than Sherlock Holmes stuff until GA did this series! VERY entertaining and funny with enough high-tech to make things interesting!
Great series by Daniel (Posted on 10/28/2014)
When this one ends you really look forward to the next one in the series.
Nuclear bombshell 1 the plutonium blonde by Gregory (Posted on 8/15/2014)
Very entertaining full of humor and hilarity still rolling in the aisle.
Review by Jon (Posted on 8/12/2014)
Loved this from the start! getting the rest!
Gumshoe-licious by Colleen (Posted on 7/31/2014)
Being a fan of old movies and radio, I was absolutely smitten with this valentine to the bygone era of noir films. The sound design is rich and whimsical. And just the comic timing of everything...! Very, very entertaining indeed.

PERFORMANCES were phenomenal. Richard Rohan as the gumshoe was flawless. Clearly, he's got a fondness for the old style. David Coyne as Harv is superior and condescending in all the very best side-kicky ways. But Karen Novack steals the show as BB Star. Could someone please give that woman more scenery to chew? She's got a voice like chocolate melting on velvet.
Wonderfully captivating by Jeff (Posted on 7/14/2014)
Grabbed this off the shelf, thinking it was the best of the lousy stuff available. Turns out, I was captivated and loved every minute of it. Great mix of mystery and comedy, that really keeps you thinking. Definitely recommend.
Start of a great life by Raace (Posted on 4/7/2014)
I had heard one of the chapters on XM Book Radio, about Nuclear Bombshell. I was like 'okay, sounds right up my alley."

I listened and for the first time I heard sound effects, and not the cheesy kind you get from the other audio books. Actual real life sounds effects, along with great story telling and even great background information.

The Plutonium Blonde tells a story of a High Executive being a woman and the Protagonist having a hot girlfriend that could kill him if she wanted, but is also a doctor.

Couple that together with Scifi-world. With hilarious, but semi-factual details and a Holographic robot side kick and sir you have gold.
good by Daniel (Posted on 2/28/2014)
This brought me back to the mystery
I'm Hooked by Florida Girl (Posted on 11/27/2013)
I listened to the free book and thought I would try buying a longer one. I love it. Ga did a great job. The only thing I had a problem with was that in some spots the background could have been a little softer so the people could be heard better. However, overall wonderful and I'm about to get the next one.
a unique series by john (Posted on 8/27/2013)
the combination of science fiction, action adventure and comedy make the series unique. but it does seem to be a love it or leave it kind of series. my grandson and i both love it, my son is about 50/50, and my wife just does not get it. as usual the voice actors are great.
