In Montana Territory, one name above all others strikes fear and hatred in the hearts of the Crow Indians--John Jackson, better known these days as Liver-Eating Jackson. Consumed by grief and rage, the mountain man has brutally killed ten braves so far in his one-man war of vengeance against the Crow, who murdered his beloved wife.

Smoke Jensen knows Jackson by another name--""friend."" He's not sure to what extent Jackson's exploits are true--devastating loss and frontier savagery have certainly driven lesser men mad. While doing some trapping in the territory, Smoke hears that twenty of the Crow's most fearsome warriors have banded together to hunt down their nemesis. Without a second thought, he rushes to his old friend's aid.

But even with Smoke Jensen at his side, the fierce and fearless Liver-Eating Jackson may not be able to beat the odds this time. . .

Butchery of the Mountain Man by Julie (Posted on 10/1/2017)
Horrible story. Either writer wrote under Johnstone's name and it wasn't checked for story accuracy, or the Johnstone's just don't care anymore. Had Big Rock, Louis and Montey all established by the time Smoke had even met Nicole.

good book
disappointed by Adam (Posted on 5/18/2015)
Time line was way off. I have all 42 books this is the worst one for the story being off. I like the way it was portrayed from new age to the old days. Would like to know what happened to Smoke and Sally's kids and the othebkids they raised like bobby.
41 Butchery of The Moutain Man by Donald (Posted on 3/20/2014)
Even though the events and timeline depicted in this latest book does not follow with the events from previous books, it was still a good book and worth listening to. It was as if this book is about events from an alternate world..
SMOKE JENSEN 41 : Butchery of the Mountain Man by David (Posted on 3/7/2014)
Worst Smoke Jensen EVER! This is the first and only one that I don't like! 90% of the facts are all wrong. Good story for a new listener, but awful for a real Mountain Man fan. As always GraphicAudio did a great job! 5 stars to GraphicAudio. 1 star to the author.
Smoke Jensen 41 by Karl (Posted on 2/24/2014)
Parts were entertaining but, the timeline was way off, Big Rock was said to built by Smoke, Sally and Friends. Monte was an enemy then a friend. In this story he was already sheriff and didn't know Smoke the same with Louis. Waited along time for 41 to be disappointed. Not the first time though its happened a few times with Jensen books.
butchery of the mountain man by matthew (Posted on 2/21/2014)
this book was entertaining, it was different than his other books, since he was telling his story and his friend's for a book.
41 : Butchery of the Mountain Man by Leonard (Posted on 2/8/2014)
The book is good but would have been outstanding IF the writer would have reviewed all the books before this so he could get the details in this book the same as the books before it.
