Sir Apropos of Nothing
1 : Sir Apropos of Nothing (1 of 2)

by Peter David
Dec 21, 2015
7 Hours
Ages 18+
In the grand tradition of Blackadder and Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the story of an anti-hero who can't help but find his way to greatness whether he likes it or not.

Apropos is a rogue, a rascal, a scoundrel, a cheat...and those are his good points. Lame of leg but fast of wit, the only reason Apropos doesn't consider chivalry dead is because he's not yet through with it. An orphan with a chip on his shoulder, Apropos, travels to the court of the good King Runcible, with three goals in mind: to find his father, seek retribution for the death of his mother, and to line his own pockets. However, Apropos carries the most troublesome burden a would-be harbinger of chaos can bear: He may well be a hero foretold, a young man of destiny. It is not a notion that Apropos finds palatable, having very low regard for such notions as honor, selflessness, or risking one's neck. Yet when Apropos finds himself assigned as squire to the most senile knight in the court-Sir Umbrage of the Flaming Nether Regions, whose squires tend to have a rather short life span-Apropos is forced to rise to the occasion lest he be dragged under-permanently.

I think I've found a quite unique a different book. This is just as the reviewers have all said Blackadder meets Monty Python an the Holy Grail. Funny is to mild a word. I expect the rest of this series to only be as good and that would make it into my top 5 book series of all time. I have no doubt this will be there.

Interesting way of telling a tale. Some parts were funny others were like "uh? did I just heard that right" but still I enjoy the story for what it is.
Very enjoyable by james (Posted on 8/31/2017)
Took a flyer on this. The writing is very good, the voice acting is even better. Some of the accents seem out of place at first and then somehow they just really work in a weird way. This part is a total background story. Thought the humor was dry and funny. Easy to get into, and quickly developed a love/hate relationship with the main character, well mostly love. Highly recommend this title.
Funny, well-written book by Peter David by Doctor 57 (Posted on 12/24/2016)
Very well dramatized reading of Peter David's book. Having read the book before, it took me a little while to get used to the voice of Apropos (since I already had a voice of my own in my head). Very enjoyable. With its use of first person narration in the book, this is more like a full cast audio drama than some of the other Graphic Audio books (I really love these). Already own and will listen to the rest of these Apropos books....

A somewhat uncreative twist on the hero dycatomy in Literature. Still a very intriguing tale that keeps the reader (or in this case listener interested).
Amazing by Mr Beden (Posted on 11/17/2016)
Clever plots that keeps you guessing and wanting to listen for more. Good humor and balance between funny and serious. Scott McCormic did a great job with this, Apropos reminds me of Guybrush from Monkey Island for some reason.
great story by Curtis (Posted on 3/4/2016)
This is a funny, witty story about the old saying 'if anything can go wrong it will'.

Very enjoyable. Great acting also.

A must buy!!
Sir Apropos 1 of 2 by Earl (Posted on 2/18/2016)
Don't normally give a 5 of 5, but frankly, this series is over the top!

Maybe it is just my twisted sense of humor, but I almost drove off the road from laughing!

Imagine, if you will, Alan Rickman (aka Severus Snape) involved in a pun-sprinkled Piers Anthony novel. A recipe that Peter David has executed very well!

The self-loathing and dry witty humor just oozes from ones speakers! Getting Pt.2 right now!

Sir Apropos (1 0f 2) by Victor (Posted on 1/24/2016)
Main character is the same voice as Happy Jack Palmer in the "Ghostfinders" series:

a magnificent series, offered in three GA downloads, so can be heard in 21 glorious hours. Very witty, and at times, laugh out loud funny! Recommended.
Best semi comedy since the Nuclear Bombshell series by Eric (Posted on 1/19/2016)
Okay, it's not quite as clever in turn of phrase. But, the SAON 2 parter is really nicely done story telling. The Monty Python type reluctant hero is there...but, perhaps not quite so silly. Nevertheless, the narrator did cause me to laugh out loud on several occasions. This was a nice twist on fantasy. And, I find myself wanting to know what happens next....always a good trait for an ongoing series.

As per usual, all around good acting by the GA cast...with excellent sound effects and the right amount of music. I could really picture the scenes in my mind.
must buy by Michael (Posted on 1/13/2016)
Good mix of comedy and drama, with an enjoyable antihero who you just can't help but feel connected to when you feel the whole world is against you and if you're just tiered of the generic Hero
Do You Like Witty Action Packed Stories? by Kevin (Posted on 1/2/2016)
If so, check out anything by Peter David.

He has written comics and novels for years - including Star Trek (for which he created his own spin-off), Babylon 5, Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk and X-Factor.

If you have never read anything by him - you should definitely check out this series...
