They're hanging Bobby Lee Cabot in Cloverdale, Nevada on Friday. Or so they think. Thursday brings Smoke Jensen to town. In another life, Bobby Lee was almost kin to Smoke, and guilty or not, Smoke will blast Cloverdale sky high if that's what it takes to set his old friend free. By midnight, Smoke and Billy Ray are riding hell-for-leather out of Cloverdale, and into a war between cunning railroad robbers and the organization sworn to stop them. Bobby Lee was working for the railroads until he was betrayed. Now, both men are pursued by deadly enemies on either side of the law. For a former mountain man who's tried to make a peaceful life back in Colorado, there's only one way back home: he's going on the attack. And this attack won't stop until the bitterest, bloodiest end...

Good book. I like how Smokey is always there for his family and friends. Very old school morals which is what I love about this series.

Like many of Johnston's books in graphic audio form, I find it's the crew/cast and the production that's carrying the books and not the books them selves.

Like all of their works, this episode demonstrates how good the Graphic Audio team is, the sounds are good, the voices are fantastic, and the music is well chosen.

Plotwise, it's like Johston is recycling his own books...there are tons of scenes reused from his other books and past titles- it's bad, it makes me feel like I am spending money on a 25% new book with 75% plot/scenes I've read in books before.

How is it that Smoke always manage to come to Big Rock for coffee just when there's someone standing at the bar, waiting to fight him?

Lol at least this time he didn't say the bad martial is the outlaw's half brother...

At least in this one we get some interesting character developments going on with some side characters- the wrongly accused detective, who happens to be Smoke's brother in law, for one, and Slark, the man Smoke let live in the beginning of the story, who ends up going down the wrong path for another.

I wish Johnston would spend a bit more time developing the main characters...Smoke, Sally, Smoke's two sidekicks, and even Louis, are all getting rather stale and 2D.
