by Elmer Kelton
Jun 1, 2010
6 Hours
Ages 13+
In post-Civil War Texas, Andy Pickard, once known to his Comanche "family" as Badger Boy, is now in his mid-twenties and riding with the Texas Rangers. While delivering a prisoner for trial, he becomes entangled in a feud between the Landon and Hopper families. Andy works to help Jayce Landon, while at the same time keeping the boy Scooter Tennyson from being pulled into a life of crime. Lives are at stake, loyalties tested, and the worst aspects of human nature are exposed, in Texas Vendetta.

I like the role Farley Brackett is taking and his "teaching" of Badger Boy. Of course Badger Boy saves Farley's life and more to strengthen their tenuous bond.

I'm glad to see Andy is becoming his own character and making a place for himself.

It's still upheaval in post-reconstruction Texas. Rusty is back on the farm (mostly) but Badger Boy (Andy) has taken his place with the Texas Rangers. This yarn illustrates minor problems can grow into major headaches for others when people are too proud, or vain, to be willing to compromise and get along. Of course, the Rangers are in the heat of it, and Andy is thrown in with his less than friendly 'neighbor', Farley Bracket, to quell the disturbance.

Glad to see Andy taking the central focus. Of course Rusty is still single. Farley Brackett is kinda funny. Especially when Len Tanner is around. I kinda like the chemistry between the three characters. Characters and plot can kinda get confusing with so many story lines. But it all comes together at the end. Finally Rusty may have a love interest. A miracle.

A great story. The Graphic Audio Cast are the best. The story line is a little slower paced compared to Johnstone books but, still good listening and this is better than the last. #6 should be even better.
