Black River Irregulars
Murder In Corvis

by Richard Lee Byers
3 Hours
Ages 13+
Death stalks Corvis by night, and only an unlikely group of heroes known as the Black River Irregulars can put an end to the terror.

The labyrinth of tunnels beneath Corvis is home to some of the city’s worst criminals, but now even these hardened thugs have reason to watch their step in the dark, shadowy undercity. Death moves in that darkness, leaving behind a trail of horribly mangled bodies. The identity of the killer is a mystery, although his calling cards—brutally savaged corpses and a distinct, repulsive odor—are constants at each bloody murder scene.

As business falters in the wake of the murders, the shady owner of an illegal gambling hall hires a ragtag group of mercenaries and adventurers to find the killer and end his reign of terror. Among these mercenaries are the trollkin bounty hunter Gardek Stonebrow, the enterprising mechanik and soldier Colbie Sterling, the investigator and arcanist Eilish Garrity, and the skulking alchemist and thief Milo Boggs. Together, these four must work to overcome their differences, track down a killer, and end the murder in Corvis before one of their own becomes the next victim.

Excellent introduction. by Vincent (Posted on 1/13/2019)
This is an excellent starting point into the Black River Irregulars series.

World-building is great, and the cast really bring to life the characters - everything fits together nicely.

Give it a listen, you'll like it.
Fantastic introduction to a kickass crew by Amy (Posted on 1/6/2019)
Damn that was good! What a wonderful intro novella to this crew of misfits. They're like a fantasy version of the Guardians of the Galaxy. They work so well together and I adore them all. The mystery was well done and had me guessing until the end. It's so nice to have a new series to dive into. Huzzah!

Shout out to Graphic Audio for adapting this brilliantly. Everyone is casted perfectly and as always the top notch acting immersed me in this world. Y'all can make new worlds feel lived in and suck your listeners in.
Introduction to Black River by Chris (Posted on 9/17/2018)
The story itself introduces us to a cast of characters and gives some background on its setting. The overall plot is pretty straight forward and seems mostly there as a sidepiece while the focus is on the characters themselves and how they interact. The story itself is very much a murder mystery. The kind that readers (listeners) often like to try to predict who did it. The voice acting and drama and style put in by the actors is what makes the story and serves well to relate each character's personality for future installments. The end left me wanting more of their bickering. I look forward to a full audiobook with more.
Great by rafael (Posted on 9/14/2018)
Great story, but this one was too short.
Great experience by Micah (Posted on 8/17/2018)
I've listened to a lot of radio theater and I've read a lot of books set in the Iron Kingdoms, so was really excited when Privateer Press announced that they would be releasing audio dramatizations of some of their books.
I'm greatly looking forward to Wicked Ways being released later this month, but I was kind of disappointed that they chose this story to be the first full book released in this format. My only reason for disappointment is simply that Murder in Corvis is a mediocre book... However, I also knew that good dramatization and voice acting can cover a multitude of literally sins, so I gave it a shot.
I'm not, in the least bit, disappointed with purchasing this book. Some of the voice acting is a little rough at times (mostly the actress who plays Colbie Sterling), but on the whole it's a great listen. I even sprung for the Flac files, totally worth it.
Murder in Corvis by Norman (Posted on 8/5/2018)
I absolutely loved this book. Outstanding performance by both the narrator and actors, sound effects were on point and an immersive story. A cocktail for success. Full Marks, Bravo
