Demon Cycle
2 : The Desert Spear (1 of 3)

by Peter V. Brett
Jul 1, 2012
6 Hours
Ages 18+
The sun is setting on humanity. The night now belongs to voracious demons that prey upon a dwindling population forced to cower behind half-forgotten symbols of power. Legends tell of a Deliverer: a general who once bound all mankind into a single force that defeated the demons. But is the return of the Deliverer just another myth? Perhaps not. Out of the desert rides Ahmann Jardir, who has forged the desert tribes into a demon-killing army. He has proclaimed himself Shar'Dama Ka, the Deliverer and he carries ancient weapons-a spear and a crown-that give credence to his claim. But the Northerners claim their own Deliverer: the Warded Man, a dark, forbidding figure. Once, the Shar'Dama Ka and the Warded Man were friends. Now they are fierce adversaries. Yet as old allegiances are tested and fresh alliances forged, all are unaware of the appearance of a new breed of demon, more intelligent-and deadly-than any that have come before.

Amazing Depth of Worldbuilding by Sam (Posted on 2/6/2019)
This whole series is a wonderful in-depth world where magic powers everything, religions are complicated, and sex even more so. Drop in some political backstabbing, demon double-crossing, and well-described battle scenes and you have a great adventure from start to finish.
Demon Cycle Desert Spear Part 1 by John (Posted on 12/29/2017)
This cover shows us Renna Bales fighting wood demons I believe.

This one bounces back and forth showing us the Krasian world they have down in the south, and showing us Arlen and Renna Bales impact upon Hollow County as it continues to grow to a free city that rivals the others in time. Peter V Brett really performed well on this 2nd installment of 5 of his Demon Cycle.

Don't miss this exciting sequel of Demon Cycle! Stay tuned for the dynamics, the character arcs, the politics, and of course "core spawned demons!"

Start to finish, Peter V. Brett's wonderful immersive world. Many character arcs with lots of growth and change. Heroes and villains, plots and conflicts. Multiple villains in some books. Truly an abundant worthwhile series that will make you satisfied when you return to the book series after a period of time. Timeless series cheering for humanity and the favorite people that snuggle in close to your heart for all time.

After reading parts 1/3 of the book, i must say it is definitely one of my favorite titles GA has performed. As usual, amazingly done, and i have no doubts about the success of book 3.
I read for 11 straight hours getting to the end, and it was spectacular. Also, compliments to the narrator, exelent job.
Review by Scott Pike (Posted on 5/23/2013)
This was an excellent sequel to the warded man. I was so excited after listening to the graphic audio Warded Man so I bought the second book on Audible.com and I still got the graphic audio Desert spear when it came out and it was great. The actors really got their voices to fit the characters in the book. Buy it.
Review by SHAWN CORNISH (Posted on 5/23/2013)
I just read that the author is making this a 5 book series with 2 additional books coming focusing on other characters. This is by far my favorite GA series. I have 5 people at work hooked. Exceptionally well written and produced. This whole series is flawless and I can't wait for the rest!
Review by Brian Hughes (Posted on 5/23/2013)
This series started out strong in The Warded Man and the high level of quality and production, along with an amazing story, continues here in The Desert Spear.
