Demon Cycle
Brayan's Gold

by Peter V. Brett
May 1, 2014
1.7 Hours
Ages 18+
Humanity has been brought to the brink of extinction. Each night, the world is overrun by demons - bloodthirsty creatures of nightmare that have been hunting the surface for over 300 years. A scant few hamlets and half-starved city-states are all that remain of a once proud civilization, and it is only by hiding behind wards, ancient symbols with the power to repel the demons, that they survive. A handful of Messengers brave the night to keep the lines of communication open between the increasingly isolated populace.

Arlen Bales is seventeen, an apprentice Messenger in brand new armor, about to go out for the first time alongside a trained Messenger on a simple overnight trip. Instead Arlen finds himself alone on a frozen mountainside, carrying a dangerous cargo to Count Brayan’s gold mine, one of the furthest points in the duchy. And One Arm, the giant rock demon, hunts him still.

Good short story
Sweet Story by Dale (Posted on 6/27/2016)
Good short story, filled in a lot about Arlen's first major mission, as well as showing a bit about both the good and bad in people in general.
A Great Little Story for Passing Time in A boring Waiting Room! by JasonJason (Posted on 6/6/2016)
This GA adaptation of Brayon's Gold helped me pass the time in a boring Sosial Security office waiting room. It kept me alert with good action movie quality acting and awesome music and sound effects. And it helps fill in some of the gaps in the Warded Man storyline. It also gave me a much needed outlet for my anger and annoyance with the people at sosial security. For that, Thanks GA!

Brayan's Gold by Joseph (Posted on 6/28/2015)
I downloaded this on a whim, just to see what it would be like. I loved the story and listened to it in one go, then immediately purchased The Warded Man (part 1 of 2).

Brayan's Gold by Lionel (Posted on 11/20/2014)
Great short story, that really helped show what Arlen was like in his messenger days. It took my awhile to warm up to the voice actor doing Arlen, but after I did, I loved this. Just wish it was longer of course, as I cannot get enough of this series.
Great Short Story by Travis (Posted on 8/21/2014)
This is a great short story that made me want more. As others stated; it does fill in some gaps making it more complete.

Cool missing first mission story by Scott (Posted on 4/2/2014)
This was a great short story. It really fit with the first book in the series and filled in some small holes in the narattive from the Warded Man. I'm glad I waited for the graphic audio version, the normal written or audible version wouldnt have had the same impact. Worth 4 bucks.
