Stormlight Archive
3 : Oathbringer (5 of 6)

by Brandon Sanderson
7 Hours
Ages 13+
In Oathbringer, the third volume of the New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive, humanity faces a new Desolation with the return of the Voidbringers, a foe with numbers as great as their thirst for vengeance.

Dalinar Kholin’s Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost: The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction, and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put aside Dalinar’s blood-soaked past and stand together—and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past—even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not prevent the end of civilization.

Wow! by Travis (Posted on 1/26/2019)
Marvelous adaptions by Graphic Audio. I really liked how that visualized Shadesmar in the audio, with the soft clicking of marbles or beads in the background. It really brought you into the world. Dalinar's flashbacks were perfectly portrayed. Bravo. The emotion was raw and real. Sanderson's story really couldn't be told better than this. I don't think television or movies could do it as much justice as they'd have to cut numerous things for time constraints, unlike with Graphic Audio, who can provided us with basically an unabridged adaption. Really enjoyed it, and looking forward to what will surely be an epic conclusion to book 3.
The Cosmere has come to life...in your mind. by John (Posted on 12/20/2018)
This beloved part 5 introduces fans of The Stormlight Archive, Brandon Sanderson, and the Cosmere to the Cognitive realm. Shadesmar is the name given to the Cognitive realm on Roshar in the Rosharan Star system in the dwarf galaxy known as the Cosmere. The Cosmere is an interconnected galaxy of star systems and habitable planets that house many of Sanderson's works of fiction (in case anyone here doesn't yet know.)
The Cosmere's works of fiction are:
Elantris, the planet of Sel,
Mistborn, the planet of Scadrial,
Warbreaker, the planet of Nalthis,
White Sand, the planet of Taldain,
Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, the planet of Threnody,
Sixth of the Dusk, the planet of First of the Sun (this story is featured at several lengths and in differing drafts in the Graphic Audio selection, Shadows Beneath: The Writing Excuses Anthology) as of December 2018.
Upcoming Cosmere works are: The Stormlight Archive Book 4 in 2020, Mistborn Era 2: The Lost Metal in 2020/2021
Enjoy Part 5 and buckle up for the conclusion in Part 6/6.
Roadtrip by Chris (Posted on 10/13/2018)
A major theme of this book is traveling through Shadesmar itself. We get to see how this alternate world works, how it mirror yet is the opposite of Roshar, and how those that live there are surviving. There are times when the ambient sounds during the Shadesmar scenes overpower the narration and voice actors. It's an effect I've noticed in playing from multiple sources including computer speakers, headphone, and car speakers. It grew less noticeable for me as this audiobook progressed.

The other big half of the story is Dalinar's flashbacks. They sounds and voices are enough to haunt you. You can actually feel the torment going through his mind.
He's the Very Best by William (Posted on 10/3/2018)
It's Sanderson. The very best author in fantasy today on Graphic audio. Enough said. This story is an explosion of joy in my ears!!
Informative and adventures by Scott (Posted on 9/1/2018)
Well we moved past some heartaches with part four of book 3. But now people are dealing with the aftermath. Kaladin is divided, Shalon is losing her mind and Dalinar is sinking into a mess of guilt, horror and denial. But hey at least we finally get to see what the Cognitive Realm, or Shadesmar is like on the Rosharan planet. Very cool and interesting to learn how that world works. Worth every dollar to listen to this world brought to life.
Flawless by Tucker (Posted on 8/17/2018)
Wow, I am speechless. The single best piece of Graphic Audio production I've heard yet.

Everything about the Shadesmar roadtrip was spot on. The background sound effects of Shadesmar. The subtly different voices of the spren in Shadesmar. The feeling of wonder and strangeness.

The emotion of Dalinar's flashback scenes were amazing. A round of applause for each and every voice actor in this episode.

I cannot wait to hear the epic finale in Part 6. Thank you Graphic Audio.
Loving it by Corey (Posted on 8/14/2018)
Great job by Graphic Audio on this episode, as with all their prior releases in their Stormlight Archive series.

One slight problem I've noticed (although it might be a problem on my end) is that the vocals are too quiet compared to the 'background' audio, at least to my ear. These quiet vocals often make it difficult to hear what the characters are saying.
