7 : Dectra Chain

by James Axler
Feb 1, 2006
7 Hours
Ages 18+
The world blew out in 2001. Vast areas of what was the United States lie beneath an unbrella of noxious dust and radioactive debris, a mantle of destruction drawn over a land of doom. Much of the East Coast has been oliterated; the Southwest is a land of fire; cities of smoldering ash have give birth to horrifically mutated life forms. Such is the Deathlands, legacy of global annihiliation.

But there were survivors, struggling to overcome a dark new age of plague, radiation sickness, barbarism and madness. Out of the ruins come Ryan Cawdor and his band of post-holocaust survivors, whose odyssey discovery takes them in search of other pockets of civilization.

Emerging from a gateway in Maine, Ryan confronts a ruthless and brutal sea captain, a woman prepared to go to any lengths to get what she wants...

Deathlands: Dectra Chain by Steve (Posted on 2/18/2019)
This series is captivating but the tales are too short. Love the premise and am going to try and stay with the series as long as I can but I have a lot of catching up to do :)

Really nice to see the gang out of their element. The main villain is awesome and portrayed very well. Excellent t production value as well!
Deathlands Waling by Christopher (Posted on 4/27/2017)
I didn't expect to like this one when the idea of wailing happened, but it was really cool! Recommended.
break by nicole (Posted on 11/4/2016)
It's great to have a break from adventures on land. Really shows the new post apocalyptic world at every angle. Ryan never ceases to amaze me!
Accurate by nicole (Posted on 11/4/2016)
Love this series. My husband and I alwasy discuss how accurate the author made these stories. There is so much realism in this apocopltyic world. A scary look into our future.
Thar she blows by John (Posted on 9/21/2016)
A good movie in your mind kind of on the aspect of Moby Dick
Dectra Chain by Joseph (Posted on 9/12/2016)

this one had me on the edge of my set
Dectra Chain by JB (Posted on 8/7/2015)
Another story that was a bit to long, good but long. It seems that the story is being written by someone different now. Its seem more darker in ways. The old lady Captain. I think I would put a bullet in my head if I had to have some loving with her. Really!!!
Deathlands 07 - Dectra Chain by Grant (Posted on 6/10/2015)
Great title with an interesting twist and spin on the series.
Personally I think that the character that stayed back should have continued with the group.
Slickman The Man by Larry (Posted on 2/16/2015)
also a good book not one of my fav books but still a good one
Dectra Chain by Mudbug (Posted on 7/30/2014)
I have to agree with James on this one Graphic Audio has the best voice actors in the business. And the fact that these people are voicing more than one character is amazing. There some titles in the series where a character or narrator is different and I find it difficult to stay focused on the "book". But none the less since it's Deathlands I trudge along to the end and cant wait for the next one to come out. This "book" has some interesting characters with some very demented thinking which is what make this whole series such a hit. Mr. James Axler your mind is twisted but damnit keep up the awesome work and us Deathlanders will be waiting for the next one to come out.
Micro-Culture by Vann (Posted on 7/21/2014)
As seen in others and even in future stories, holding a community together can be hard, but it is easier if you inject a micro-culture into the mix. Everyone on the same path, on the same 'boat'. Great story and well done in production, sound effects and the actors.
good title! by Joe (Posted on 6/28/2014)
this is another excellent title by the folks at graphic audio! Good job!
deathlands Dectra Chain by Steven (Posted on 6/5/2014)
Really good story, a lot of background about Whaling not to mention the Captain Pyra Quade, ugh.
A Classic DL Story- One of the Best by Tad (Posted on 5/13/2014)
Ryan Cawdor matches wits with a maniacal woman whaleboat captain in this DL-meets-Moby Dick, set in Claggertsville, Maine. Lots of great scenes, both at sea and on land, with terrific side-character action by Doc Tanner and the Apache medicine man from Pony Soldiers. If you think you're having a bad day, you'll reconsider after hearing what Captain Pera Quad does to her under-performing mates!
deathlands by kenny (Posted on 4/19/2014)
the best futuristic post holocost that is infused with true history through :doc: tanner, and the fittest of survival
Review by Leif Kehrein (Posted on 5/23/2013)
Good mix of old and new. That is what I think would happen in some new england towns. Too bad about the bar tender I liked him at first.
Review by James Yeatts (Posted on 5/23/2013)
I have now "read" listened to the 1st 79 books. Haven't missed even one and I have bought all of the upcoming books up to 98.

The point here is that you will soon discover something for yourself:

Richard Rohan and Terence Aselford are radio "gods"!

Mr. Rohan not only portrays our main character, Ryan Cawdor but also Jak Lauren but is the best narrator of anything that I have ever heard! Book in and book out he just hits a home run every time. I bow down sir.

As for Mr. Aselford? His portrayal of arguably the main center character of the series, J.B. Dix is right on. Yet he then also takes on the voice of the gruff old Doc Tanner.

I would love get in and do radio work myself, even at the old fart age of 58!

Terrific work gentlemen!
