Gavin Guile is dying.

He'd thought he had five years left-now he has less than one. With fifty thousand refugees, a bastard son, and an ex-fiancée who may have learned his darkest secret, Gavin has problems on every side. All magic in the world is running wild and threatens to destroy the Seven Satrapies.

Worst of all, the old gods are being reborn, and their army of color wights is unstoppable. The only salvation may be the brother whose freedom and life Gavin stole sixteen years ago.

I listen to this series over and over. There's always a new revelation.
Yes, it got better! by Patrick (Posted on 4/6/2017)
I totally agree with Travis. After listening to the three parts of book 1 I hesitated on whether to continue to listen on book 2. I'm glad I gave it the chance!

All of a sudden we have a complex multilayered storyline with philosophical questions and "secrets within secrets" - which reminds me quite much of Brandon Sanderson.
Just Keeps Getting Better by Travis (Posted on 3/29/2017)
The Lightbringer series just gets better in book 2. The characters are more complex, and the the major conflict starts taking more shape, along with the development of side plots. Kip really starts to grow on me as a characters.

Good book
Brilliant work - among GraphicAudio’s best by Catdaddy (Posted on 2/28/2016)
This reviewer took a long break after listening to the first trilogy, and it took him a few minutes to catch up. The story picks up directly where the first trilogy leaves off. It is still supremely good writing, featuring rich, complex characters and adult motivations.

There is a scene for example, halfway through hour three, that does more to illuminate the different natures of masculinity and femininity then a hundred pop-psychology self-help books have ever done. It's not simply good drama. It is a story so rich, with characters so interesting, that it's a relief to know the story is not open-ended and has the possibility of sustaining this level of quality throughout. It is easily among GraphicAudio's best offerings.

Like the first trilogy, the Blinding Knife begins as a mild PG-13 for language. Though strong language is used, it is never excessive nor capricious, and always effective. By the fifth hour, however, things get darker. Here it earns a strong PG-13 with sexual flirtation, and some violence. The language is occasionally strong, but only used when warranted. Be advised, however: by part 3 of 3, it will be maintaining this level of maturity, and warrant a mild R.

Ultimately, “The Binding Knife Part 1” features a rich, elegant script - among GraphicAudio's best offerings. Highly recommended.

Engrossing & enchanting by Dispossessed (Posted on 2/27/2015)
Among my first audiobooks purchases, I was drawn into the story immediately. I came to enjoy the voice actors and the skill they put into bringing this story to life. Definitely worth looking into.
Great by Dispossessed (Posted on 2/27/2015)
Getting into the story took a little bit, but the action and politicking was well done. I thoroughly enjoyed these books and the manner in which the story was done. The effects, narration and voice acting were nicely executed.
Just too good to stop by Paresh (Posted on 11/2/2014)
Truly amazing story - 'Kip' is just too funny and awkward and that makes him a really interesting character to follow. Great action, acting and production. Hugely recommended.

Though a voice or two changed in this book it is still a fantastic production and I love listening to it. This is definitely the pinnacle of GA's catalog.
