When archaeologist Annja Creed is hired to find the lost city of Promise in Brazil, she is more than intrigued. Legends abound of a magical place where slaves were rumored to have discovered the secret to eternal youth and life.

But strangers are not welcome in Promise.

Annja soon learns that the residents have gone to extreme lengths to guard their precious secret. Making her way from the steamy port of Belém to the brutal slums of Northeast Brazil, Annja faces unexpected peril, from poisoned arrows to Amazonian anacondas. As she navigates through a land where spirituality collides with the material world, Annja must distinguish between what is real and what is imagined for fear of making a wrong move. Because anyone or anything could be her enemy.

And she''s getting too close...

Rogue Angel: Secret of the Slaves by Roger (Posted on 2/12/2017)
Archer did a fantastic job of bringing the Amazon jungle alive in this book.
Secret of the Slaves by Chris (Posted on 12/28/2016)
History is not something I had thought of categorizing the Rogue Angel series under but this novel made me think of it. It's part of the attraction this series has for me...besides all the mystery and the strong heroine in action!

This series is a fun escape. Nothing deep, perhaps just a twinge of thought provoking insight. Amazon rainforest, dangerous slum adventure, Rock star magnetism and ego to go with it. Old world colony with new world technology and a touch of mysticism. And as always, a kick ass girl with morals!
Secret of Slaves by Bonnie (Posted on 6/27/2016)
This story makes the Brazilian landscape come alive with many unseen things. Awesome!
Secret of the Slaves by Angelo (Posted on 5/1/2016)
another good story, not as good as some of the others but very good

Very good listen. Very deep story line.
Powerful and Political by sue (Posted on 9/23/2014)
One of the powerful and political stories in the Rogue Angel series. This story touches on the variety of colors and flavors in the Brazilian landscape. As the main character travels through Brazil she experiences everything from spiritual awakening to the staggering slavish practices of the Brazilian gold trade. You will wonder who is are the good guys and who are the enemies in this thriller reminischent of "The RunDown" (the film starring The Rock and Sean William Scott)

Great audio book for long car rides - engaging and informative!

Rogue Angel Secret of the Slaves by N (Posted on 1/11/2014)
Riveting! Way out there. I had to listen to this one twice and heard some things that I did not hear the first time. I will listen again, because there is so much to comprehend.

Alright. This story is way out there. It was very hard to understand and stay with. Not GA's fault the story line is just out there.
