117 : Desolation Angels

by James Axler
Sep 2, 2014
5 Hours
Ages 18+
A hundred years after the nukecaust, the tortured landscape of post-apocalyptic America offers a brutal fight for survival. Yet tech secrets lie hidden, useful to those brave and strong enough to believe that hope can carry them toward ever-elusive peace.

Violent gangs, a corrupt mayor and a heavily armed police force are the hallmarks of former Detroit, a mutie-infested, rubble-strewn metropolis. When Ryan and the companions show up, the Desolation Angels are waging a war to rule the streets. After saving the companions from being chilled by gangsters, the mayor hires Ryan and his friends to stop the Angels cold. But each hard blow toward victory proves there's no good side to be fighting for. As Motor City erupts into bloody conflagration, the companions are caught in the crossfire. In Deathlands, hell is called home.

I was happy with how good this book was.
Driver by Alfred (Posted on 2/7/2017)
this book was all over the place. it was poorly executed.
Average by brian (Posted on 10/23/2016)
I liked parts of the story, overall though it was hard to stay focused.
Clyde by Clyde (Posted on 5/22/2015)
Ryan and friends recover from a mat-trans jump to find themselves embroiled in a turf war. A dystopian police force is battling numerous street gangs for control of the ruins of Detroit.
This is one of the more "actiony" books lately, rife with urban combat.
Deathlands 117 : Desolation Angels by robert (Posted on 3/21/2015)
This one was "okay", not bad, but not particularly great due to the story. The villians weren't particularly compelling, the different flavored gangs were a neat idea, the action was good, it held my attention all the way through, but in the end it was just sorta.. okay

Worth if if you get every Deathlands, but if you are looking to try out a Deathlands for the first time, this isn't the one to sample.

Deathlands #117 Desolation Angels by David (Posted on 11/20/2014)
Seem kind of a rehash of when they found dean in New York but overall a good book
Didn't make sense by James (Posted on 11/9/2014)
This particular title was overly abridged. There was more than one occasion where I had to check to make sure I didn't skip a CD. Big chunks were left out and/or missing. The story didn't flow very well, it was too choppy.
Deathlands #117 Desolation Angels by Yancy (Posted on 10/31/2014)
Great book and even better audio.
Desolation angels by Jakob (Posted on 10/29/2014)
I agree with a couple that this book was poorly executed and one of the books I wish I didnt pay for but I have to keep up with the series and hope 118 will prove to be better which I will be purchasing now.

Great Book. Deathlands is my favorite series!!
Deathlands #117 Desolation Angels by Steven (Posted on 10/21/2014)
Great story. The companions are in trouble as soon as they arrive. Muties, sewage, rampaging gangs everywhere they turn, welcome to Detroit. Even hiring out as mercenaries and picking who are the good & bad guys keeps them wondering if they chose the right side.

A little wishy washy in the story and ended kind of poorly but was ok
Desolation Angels by John (Posted on 9/28/2014)
Uh, James Axler has been dead for years. He only wrote about half of the first book. Anyway, this book is fun, as are most GA titles, not great but worth keeping up with the franchise.

Heard about this series from a friend, he was right, good listening!!!
Desolation Angels by Michael (Posted on 9/14/2014)
I don't know how James Axler keeps doing this over and over but once again he absolutely holds your attention from start to finish with Deathlands 117 "Desolation Angels" He is by far my favorite author. Every book keeps me wondering what Ryan and his crew will encounter this time on they're journey thru the Deathlands and 117 delivers the action and "edge of your seat" thrills I've come to expect from James Axler's writing and Ryan's team of adventuring wanderers.
