43 : Dark Emblem

by James Axler
Apr 1, 2006
7 Hours
Ages 18+
Transformed by the nuclear conflict of 2001, the earth had turned into a wasteland ruled by anarchy and barbarism. Heirs to this blighted world, Ryan Cawdor and his warrior wayfarers fight for survival... and a way to restore humanity''s lost promise.

The preholocaust redoubts housing the dangerous and unpredictable mat-trans units are the legacy of the whitecoat scientists and their precocious knowledge. For the very few in the know, the network of redoubts serves as an escape route and transport through the bleak landscape.

Emerging remarkably unscathed after a mat-trans jump, Ryan and his wayfarers are welcomed by Dr. Silas Jamaisvous in his fortress among the ruins of San Juan. This man of science may hold a vital key to the future, but is he an icon of hope or a dark emblem of the past?

In the Deathlands, time can kill or save...

Almost Two Separate Books by Vann (Posted on 1/8/2019)
Between the demon and the white-coat, this was quite a ride. For Doc Tanner, Jamaisvous is Deja Vu. So worth the listen.

Zero to 43 in 11 Months, " Now that's Fast ! "

I began re-watching GraphicAudio's "Movies in my mind" Deathlands series from the beginning. Eleven months later I have completed book 43.

I have to admit after listening to this book I was tempted to re-watch book one again ..but, that would have put me into an "infinite loop" ..very dangerous!!

This is a really good background story on Doc Tanner & what makes him tick
A Landmark Title in the DL Canon by Tad (Posted on 3/21/2014)
This is one of the best of the DL titles, and Silas is a truly chilling villain. Doc Tanner is my favorite character of the Companions, and we learn so much about his time in the 1990s as a captive of/unwilling participant with the whitecoats in the Totality Project. Also, good muties, an homage to the Southwest US/Central American "chupucabra" legend. Silas shows up again down the road in the series, so this is a must to get your characters straight.
Review by David VanDehy (Posted on 5/23/2013)
Perhaps one of my 10 top favorites of all Deathland books. The questions about Dr. Theopolis Alginan Tanner are finally answered.
