After two centuries of nuclear blight, a new America is emerging, forged by those seeking peace and hope for the future. Pocket communities, ruled by local barons, have become the new centers of civilization...and power. But while many desire prosperity, others embrace ideas of ultimate domination.

The son of a powerful baron, Ryan Cawdor has chosen his own path through the Deathlands. Now rumors of trouble bring him home to West Virginia, where he''d left his nephew Nathan at the head of the barony. But a welcoming committee is waiting for him with a band of sec men and a usurper of the Cawdor name. Unable to help a mysteriously ailing Krysty Wroth, Ryan challenges two of his oldest enemies in their grim gambit to control the East Coast Baronies.

Baronies Part 1 by Vann (Posted on 1/9/2019)
Sometimes, coming home just isn't what you think it might be, even after fixing the issue the first time. Ryan's past haunts him yet again, only this time it has a new foe. A great introduction to the trilogy. GA should be proud of their start on this as this was the beginning of bringing these stories to life. While there is a shift with the actress playing Mildred, one must remember that this is where they started, so Coleen was first. She did a good job, but listening up to this point, yes, Delores is missed as Mildred. Also, as this was an early work, some of the audio balance and sound effects are not up to their normal level, but it is so worth a listen.

Great book, just seemed as if all the voices were of, Especially Mildred, sounds too much like a southern Belle.

This story was ok.
Shows how much this series has progressed by Sam (Posted on 6/20/2017)
First off, this is a good story and will appeal to Deathlands Fans. However, because it was the first GA production of the series, it's a bit raw in comparison to later productions. There's more narration and less dialog between characters and the sound effects aren't quite up to what we've come to expect from this series. Again, this isn't a bad production - it just shows how far GA has progressed in their later products.

Deathlands Gemini Rising by Steven (Posted on 6/5/2014)
The start of a three book trilogy, each one a great book and it's not till the end that the companions realize that a old enemy has returned to haunt them
Good Character interplay, Wierd voices by Tad (Posted on 3/29/2014)
This is my second time through the DL series, and I'm no more fond of this Mildred voice than I was the first time I listened. Other than that, this is a good yarn, with great dialogue between the characters. Dean is really starting to grow up by this point.
mildred is Christy by Tracy (Posted on 2/21/2014)
Mildred and christy are the same voice. You get use to it later one and can tell the difference but at first i was confused.
Gemini Rising by Shane (Posted on 11/26/2013)
Coleen Delaney does Mildred in this. You get so used to Delores Williams cadence and voice that the new voice sounds completely wrong. She sounds like a southern bell as opposed to an educated, tough black woman. As a matter of fact everybody sounds wrong in this production. Richard Rohan still does Ryan, but he doesn't sound like Ryan. This is probably because this was the first release the company did in 2004 before they had many actors.

This is actually the first Deathlands GA did. The production has less actors, sound effects and music, but still holds true to the book.
