49 : Shadow World

by James Axler
Nov 1, 2004
8 Hours
Ages 18+
The hellscape of postnuclear America has a bloodlust for the good, the innocent and the helpless. Survival in Deathlands demands a will to endure that is as raw and savage as this brutal frontier. For Deathlands is the future''s last and only hope-for both its inheritors and strange invaders to whom this perdition promises a paradise.

Ryan Cawdor is a true warrior of Deathlands, fighting for survival in a bizarre, freakish world. But now, beyond the unseen perils, a new threat emerges: invaders arrive from a parallel earth where the nukecaust never happened. Ryan is abducted through a time corridor to the twin earth, where he discovers a nightmare that makes Deathlands look tame by comparison-and a new plot for its grotesque destruction...

In the Deathlands the future is uncertain, but it''s all that remains.

Reaching Deep Into Sci-fi by Vann (Posted on 1/9/2019)
This story takes our hero farther than he ever thought possible, another timeline. Well done and lots of twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. The audio performance is right up there with GA's normal standards.

Best of the best! by Mike B. (Posted on 5/28/2015)
Deathlands #49 'Shadow World' is my all time favorite in this series. It has everything, muttie snakes and animals, cannies, Good Ol' Boys, invaders from another dimension, and solid hard core science. This is the episode which really got me hooked on the Deathlands series.

A very good story about parallel worlds and environmental disaster
Best of the Best by Tad (Posted on 3/29/2014)
My favorite GA production in the Deathlands canon. This is damned good science fiction, the kind that really makes you think. GA does a good job of explaining parallel universes and string theory without getting too gobbledy-gooky, and Rohan's narration has just the right amount of edge when narrating the satirical segments. Some great gory battles and a few guffaws round out the fun. So much visual candy here- a real "Movie in Your Mind!"

This one is interesting with the multidimensional aspect, and it has a good deal of ironic comedy.
