A post-quake San Francisco is ruled by a private corporation called the Bay Area Security Service. Its founder, Saul Rabin, is revered by many as the savior of the city, but by others he is feared and loathed as a fascist tyrant. And because of the cutting-edge antigravity technology being developed by his company, this controversial figure is about to become the most powerful man in the world.

To his protégé, Michael Ares, the old man is a mysterious benefactor whom he respects and admires. But when Michael's daughter and best friend are brutally murdered, he follows a trail of evidence that leads dangerously close to home. Closer than he could ever imagine.

A future world of aerocars, net glasses, and neural cyberware provides the backdrop for this timeless tale of good and evil, revenge and love, infamy and destiny. Fans of Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell will love this series filled with thought-provoking images of dark shapes which, despite their pain and power, could never blot out the light that surrounds them.

Reviews

Overall, a good story by Amanda (Posted on 8/9/2018)
It's been awhile since I've listened to this insert in the series. The mystery and suspense kept me listening, as I needed to know what happened next. One of the more interesting elements in the story, to me, was the mind-control technology that Saul Rabin and BASS had looked into in the past. I won't say more, for that would get into spoiler territory. I was kept guessing about many things until the end, when the main character finally put many things together to discover the truth and came up with a plan to put an end to sinister plans and save his marriage.

I thought that this set up good potential for a larger series.
Good story and bit predictable though by James (Posted on 5/16/2018)
Loved the tech and the state of the nation described. I felt like I was listening to a CSI episode with great detail and excellent character development.

I don't want to go to far into the story but pretty much solved it by disk 3 of 5. Great listen, highly recommend.
good book by Connor (Posted on 6/2/2015)
got this book with a coupon unsure of it but ended up loving it
Cyberpunk that gets you Wetware by Caine (Posted on 3/31/2015)
There simply isn't enough Cyberpunk in the world so when I find it I buy it. I'm happy to report that the Peacer series is not only good Cyberpunk, it's just plain good old fashioned story telling!

The author spins a compelling world similar enough to our own to be relate-able yet different enough of our own to be interesting. Packed with espionage, mystery, betrayal, lots of gadgets and plenty of action Peacer 1 : Silhouette is a very great book and an amazing performance by the Graphic Audio bullpen.
Great audio book by dean (Posted on 12/9/2014)
I finished the audio book this morning on the the way to work. I enjoyed the production and I am a fan of this style of storytelling. Two thumbs up to the GraphicAudio team who puts these stories together.
Concerning the story, I figured it out pretty early in the telling, but it did not stop me from finishing, it was very entertaining all the same. I think this is a great format in story telling, the sounds in environment and mechanical objects created depth for me. In comparison to other audio book styles, this is my preference. Keep up the great work, and I'll keep on listening.
Solid performance, but... by Jared (Posted on 10/23/2014)
For some reason, I could never get too into the story and mystery involved, something about the world itself continued to bother me even as I was following it. I blame the corporate espionage aspects and the...well, I won't give it away.
Entertaining futuristic detective mystery by Christopher (Posted on 10/19/2014)
This first part is a great start to this series. The book stands on its own as its own story and is an imaginative futuristic storyline. The production is great as usual.
First in Series... hmmmm by Armand (Posted on 5/27/2014)
Well, I did enjoy this book, but found myself re-listening to several areas because it simply sounded like a long run-on sentence. Seems a bit too much detail narrative and not enough action. In any case, it's one reason I don't go much for mystery/cop/detective things though I thoroughly enjoyed the Nuclear Bombshell series. A 5 on production quality, but sadly only 4 on content... but that is just me and my personal preferences. I prefer less in-depth personal thinking process narration and more action.
Great New Series! by Joseph (Posted on 3/5/2014)
Just finished listening to "Peacer - Silhouette" by David Swavely released by GraphicAudio.
I greatly enjoyed this first book in a new series, and I believe Mom and Dad would have enjoyed listening to it to. The Peacer series deftly mixes police procedural and science fiction in a believable not too distant world where one over-arching corporation has arisen from the choas of the New Great Los Angles Earthquake and pretty much holds the world in its grasp.
British ex-pat Michael Ares is a gritty, yet likable man who must deal with his inner and outer demons as he begins the ruthless hunt for the individual who killed his young daughter; along with his boss and best friend.
Nothing is what it seems in the Peacer world, and there are layers upon layers of mystery that must be peeled away.
Great Fun! Looking forward to the next release in this new series from GraphicAudio!
Highly Recommeneded!
Five Stars!

Solid GA performance by Thomas (Posted on 3/3/2014)
It's hard to ever day that GA does anything but a truly amazing job bringing these titles to life. 5 stars for GA's performance, but 4 stars for the story - I felt that it dwelt too much on the death of michaels daughter (an obviously consuming event for the main character, but it's also very heavy to have been constant throughout the story). What I liked most about the story is how we got enough depth to enjoy it as a stand-alone title, but we were also introduced to characters and technology that will be a blast to explore further in later titles. Keep it up GA!
A pretty good mystery by John (Posted on 1/11/2014)
This is a pretty good mystery that works at building up the world of the Peacers. The characters are basic, but work for the benefit of the story. The production values for this are pretty good as well. Overall, this is a good buy that I recommend.
Silhouette by Dave Swavely (Posted on 1/6/2014)
Great work, Graphic Audio! I like how you actually improved the novel in some parts (like the Twotter file...great voice acting). And I love how you incorporated the Mozart music at a few key times. I got goosebumps when I heard those parts!
