In this sequel to Silhouette, Michael Ares must survive a series of assassination attempts to find out why he was destined to become one of the most powerful men on the planet

In the near future, a post-quake San Francisco is ruled by a private corporation called the Bay Area Security Service. BASS has established and maintained order in this new city-state with a police force of “peacers” who have a license to kill, and the company has developed a cutting-edge antigravity technology coveted by the rest of the world. Michael Ares has recently inherited the throne of BASS, and immediately finds himself marked for assassination by an even more powerful leader, the Chinese general Zhang Sun.

Michael doesn’t understand why he was chosen to play this important role, nor does he know why Sun is so determined to see him dead. But to find out, he will first have to survive not just one attempt on his life, but an unrelenting barrage that has never failed to end in the death of the target. His only hope is to entrust his fate to an old friend whose company provides personal high-tech protection that is almost as impressive as the forces arrayed against him.

A future world of aerocars, net glasses, and neural cyberware provides the backdrop for this timeless tale of good and evil, love and revenge, truth and mystery. Dave Swavely's Kaleidocide is filled with a kaleidoscope of colorful characters and thrilling action that will make readers’ hearts pound and minds race at the same time.

Nice read
Good job by GA, not as interesting as part 1 by Amanda (Posted on 8/9/2018)
I loved Ken Jackson's work in this, as I typically do in whatever he's involved in. I also loved the work by the woman who played Mrs. Ares in the book. Mrs. Ares is a believable character, clinging to her independence and more traditional ways and preferences despite the chaos and ever-changing environment around her. She's tough as nails, too.

This book, though, felt like it was torturing... certain characters for no reason or just to pull at heartstrings, using or mentioning characters as if they would be significant at some point and then never were, and Michael Ares hardly does anything at all.

Sometimes the book also feels unnecessarily gruesome, but when you find out the big bad behind everything and why he's got it in for Ares, it does make sense.

In short, the main character hardly did anything in this. The wife character was awesome. There were many interesting side-characters who were present, but also many characters who were presented as potentially being important and then nothing ever happened with them.

In my opinion, not as good as the first, but I still thought it was a good listen.
Great Cyberpunk by John (Posted on 3/1/2017)
This is a pretty good continuation of the Peacer Books and I really hope that it picks up again with a third in the future. Hopefully.
Great Story! by Joseph Baneth Allen (Posted on 1/19/2015)
Just finished listening to "Peacer - Kaleidocide" released by Graphic Audio.
"Kaleidocide" takes place about a year after the "Peacer -Silhouette."
Now the CEO of Bay Area Security Services, which runs all of California as a Coporate-City State, Michael Ares and his wife are expecting their second child when an old friend of Michael's breeches the security of their home to inform them that Chinese General Zhang Sun has put out a rather imaginative contract out on Michael's life that involves death by color.
As Michael must dodge assination attempt after assination attempt he must dig deep into the recesses of his past - the Taiwan Incident when he was a Special Ops Officer in the British Service - to figure out why he is targeted for death by Sun.
A very thrilling ride across a vividly imagined future.
WEIRD by daryl (Posted on 12/4/2014)
Doesn't really pick up til the end in my opinion. Part one was a lot better. The ga actors always do a great job as usual, but the story was boring and not interesting.
Excellent production by Dave (Posted on 11/22/2014)
Great job again, Graphic Audio! I loved it!!
Really boring story by Christopher (Posted on 10/7/2014)
The voice acting is excellent as usual and the production is great too (go GA). But, the story is horrible and uncompelling. I really can't recommend it to anyone.
Great Series by Jamee (Posted on 9/15/2014)
SO excited to see part 2 of this series....as usual GA productions are in level all their own!
