5 Hours
Ages 13+
In late 1700s Paris, a young but promising illusionist dabbles in the arcane art of phantasmagoria. But at his moment of greatest triumph -- unveiling a magical lantern said to open a door to the Chinese spirit world -- he is violently struck down by a vengeful phantom....

On assignment in London, archaeologist Annja Creed is hunting down a man who claims to have discovered the Jekyll and Hyde potion. On the trail of one curiosity, Annja finds herself pulled toward another mystery...the origin of a strange, old-fashioned projector once used by eighteenth-century illusionists. As Annja delves into its rich history, a dark past begins to emerge. And someone wants to harness the power of this cursed artifact...risking everything for the treasures it promises.

But Annja has a little magic trick of her own. One that she wields with deadly accuracy...

Twice was the charm by James (Posted on 5/16/2018)
Started this one twice, first time for me was just not happening. I struggled to get interested and really care. I felt I couldn't connect with the characters and see myself in the story.

Fortunately, I tried again and it past the first part. I loved it! If you want adventures in Paris and to find the secrets to an age old issue this is the ticket. The beginning and the end link back like every perfect story should be. Great listen!

Another fun and exciting adventure with the intrepid Annja. Kidnappings, torture, car and sewer chases... I'm kinda surprised the professor didn't die… I've gotten rather accustomed to her boyfriends dying. On a more solemn note, the revelations about Roux and Fiona are rather sad and make me very curious as to what might transpire in the future!

I really don't understand why Westcox is so belligerent with Annja. Sure, as far as he's concerned she's a journalist, so why isn't he harassing the others as well?

Too funny...you definitely want Annja and Fiona on your side in a bar fight! It seems you shouldn't play against Annja in Trivial Pursuit, either! I do hope Archer brings Fiona in on more adventures---I like her!

What I particularly enjoy about listening to this "B" Book Series---think Saturday afternoon at the movies!---is how Annja metes out justice. The bad guys get theirs, I love the inevitable tidbits of odd history, and I just love that it's a woman who is tweaking the noses of both bad and good.

It's lively and entertaining fun.

The story added a little supernatural mystic that added to the overall great story line. Fiona was a great additional character that I hope Annja runs into again. Nice for her to have a companion that is not trying to kill her. Awesome story!!
Really good! by Brandon (Posted on 1/29/2015)
I have to concur with NoBust NoFuss' review on practically every point. The "usual" players in the RA series are so well performed that they are like old friends. It is only when a new character is introduced that I have ever had issues with the production. In this RA story, only the oriental accents were at all underwhelming.
The story itself is engaging and I especially like that the Latern isn't really "supernatural" like many of the objects in the RA stories. It's just a lantern. This is a good, old fashioned treasure hunt!
Colleen Delaney is perfect, perfect perfect as Annja! My son was playing Skyrim and I heard a female voice from one of the NPC's and I immediately recognized Colleen! I checked the credits and sure enough, it was her!
Best voice actors in the business work for GraphicAudio!

Rouge Angel is how the tomb raider series should have been done. I love the unique historical elements however false or true, the chinese accents could be better, Fiona reminds me of Bayonetta. Another Rouge Angel to listen to anytime and when I need something besides music to get my work done.

The voice acting in this is awsome snarky and sarcastic. The cast really have their characters down. I can always tell when there is someone new cause they tend to talk their parts but the veterans can really act their part. I would watch or play any game or cartoon that had a graphic audio voice actor in it.

The story was really good; I especially love most of the Doug that guy always makes me laugh.

Loved Fiona and her pretentious male executive assistant. Hope she shows up again in the series.

For me, this one turned out much better than expected- probably the best episode in the past five episodes. Great shocking moments, great emotions, and twisting plots and amazing characters- not to mention fantastic acting/sounds by Graphic Audio crew.

The one little glitch is with the confrontation with the cop in the hotel with Fiona- that little fight seen when she tasered him with his own taser...somehow didn't seem very well organized soundwise- like the cop was moaning when he shouldn't be moaning, etc.

Maybe an editing glitch?

Also we got a rare glimpse of Anja armed with guns instead of just her sword.

It's also nice to have another strong female character other than Anja in the book- and on the same side no less rather than some psycho chick trying to kill her...

Over all, one great story with great production value, and definitely worths recommending to all who follow the series.

Must be 5 stars. This was a very good story with plenty of action and plenty of good characters. Fiona was by far a very good asset to this story. And for once Annya got some of the treasure. It was really a great story. Didn't recognize the glitch the other commenter spoke of. This really was worth 5 stars all the way.

Definitely one of the better in the past 10 episodes. I really liked the overall plot and the addition of the Fiona character.

My only dislikes in this episode are the high school call to Roux(sp?), which I thought was clunky and out of character..and the missing explanation for Didier's demise in the opening scene...maybe I just missed it.

Otherwise, this was a really well written and produced installment of a favorite series.
