A sword of legend in the hands of an extremist…

Skalunda Barrow, Sweden, has long been rumored to be the final resting place of the legendary Nordic hero Beowulf. And there's something of Beowulf's that charismatic and zealous right-wing politician Karl Thorssen wants very badly. Intent on getting his hands on the mythical sword Nægling, Sweden's golden-boy politico puts together a team to excavate the barrow. A team that American archaeologist Annja Creed manages to finagle her way onto. She wouldn't miss this possible discovery for anything.

With Nægling at his side, Thorssen could be invincible…a Nordic King Arthur. What his followers don't know—and Annja is beginning to suspect—is just how far Thorssen will go to achieve his rabid amibitions. When Thorssen marks Annja for death, she quickly realizes that this is much more than a political game. And the only way to survive is to match Thorssen's sword with her own.

Another great story! Enjoyed the history behind Beowulf and his sword. Every story seems to give a history lesson, some are exaggerated from true history, but always interesting. Wonderful battle scenes.

Another Great Annja Creed Adventure! by Joseph Baneth Allen (Posted on 11/14/2014)
Just finished listening to "Rouge Angel #48 - Grendel's Curse" released by GraphicAudio.
Mom and Dad were great fans of the Rouge Angel series and always looked forward to listening to Annja Creed's various globe hopping adventures.
Naegling; Beowulf's legendary sword, is being sought after by Karl Thorssen - a zealous, over-the-top racial purity politician in Sweden, who hopes to have the sword unearthed during the first authorized archaeological excauvation of Skalunda Barrow - long rumored to be the burial tomb of Beowulf.
Naegling does exist, yet it carries a powerful curse that transforms the bearer into a monster.
Already half-way to the monster stage, Thoressen does get ahold of the Naegling and slowly starts changing into Grendel.
It's the first time Annja has fought against a sword that has the power to transform whoever holds it into an evil psychopathic monster, and not even Joan's sword can protect her from several near death experiences.
Very exciting and suspenseful!
