Rogue Angel
51 : The Pretender's Gambit

5 Hours
Ages 13+
With one small chess piece, the game begins…

For archaeologist and TV host Annja Creed, a late-night phone call from the NYPD means one thing: there's been a murder and the police need her expertise. The only link between a dead body and the killer is a small elephant of white jade. An artifact that's gone missing.

Once belonging to Catherine the Great of Russia, the elephant was key in a risky political gambit all those years ago. But there is another story attached to the artifact—a rumor of an ancient hidden treasure. And for a cruelly ambitious media mogul with a penchant for tomb-raiding, the elephant is nothing short of priceless.

Annja must make her move quickly, traveling across several continents with only the assistance of her extraordinary sword—purportedly the same sword wielded by Joan of Arc—and a mysterious temple monk. It's a deadly battle of wits, and one wrong move could mean game over.

Another great story! The Russian gangster who becomes a friend and protector of Annja adds a new element. The story hops through many countries and languages. Very well done!

The sidekick sells the whole package! by Brandon (Posted on 1/23/2017)
I am a huge RA fan. I love the realism, adventure and comic humor (in the correct doses). This serving lacks Garin and Roux, two of Annja's usual cohorts and instead features an old Russian gangster named Klikov (sp). He was so entertaining! The ending was top notch, the voice acting and effects were as perfect as they could be. This is one of the best!

I love Rouge Angel and this is a really good one. Great story, not the classic format of any of the others which is nice; No Roux or Garin, this is all Annja. This is one I will listen too again and again.

There have been a few Graphic Audios where the action scenes have been kind of hard to follow with the mix of sound effects and music; but this one was really well done and I could hear everything perfectly without getting a headache or have to strain to ear what was happening.

All of the voice acting was awesome and funny. Whenever I introduce someone to Graphic Audio I tell them they HAVE to start with Rouge Angel it is the BEST series.
BREATHE TAKING ADEVENTURE! by Joseph (Posted on 6/7/2015)
Just finished listening to "Rouge Angel #51 - The Pretender's Gambit" released by Graphic Audio.
A puzzle within a puzzle is what's waiting for Annja Creed when arrives at a murder scene in NYC's Russian immigrant district. An elderly salesman who makes his living selling knickknacks recovered from storage lockers has been brutally murdered. The only clue to his death is a photo of an ordinary white jade elephant on his computer. The white jade elephant isn't in the man's apartment and it seems, at first first, that there is nothing to suggest that this trinket is so valuable that someone would kill for it.
Yet, as Annja, and Bart - her friend and NYPD Homicide Officer - soon find out, someone is willing to go to great lengths to find that white jade elephant.
Annja soon learns that the white jade elephant once belonged to Catherine the Great of Russia and that it is an integral part of a map that can reveal the location of a hidden temple filled with treasure.
After a few failed attempts on her life, the trail to the killer leads Annja to a fortune telling witch, and from there a couple of semi-retired Russian Mafia fanboys who take it upon themselves to be Annja's chaperons and protectors.
"The Pretender's Gambit" is great fun and another thrill-packed adventure for Annja!
On a personal note, Mom and Dad loved listening to each Rouge Angel adventure as it came out.

Dear Annja,

There is a mysterious question sweeping across the North American Continent, and possibly spreading over seas. A mystery which began approximately ten years ago, though some say the mystery began before the turn of the century. The mystery comes in the form of a question, ..and it's on everyone's mind. Travellers across the nation speak of it, Law Enforcement Officers are asking this question, Musicians have queried the source, Magazine articles have been written, Experts and common folk have puzzled lengthy hours over trying to solve this one -unsolvable mystery! In fact, if Houdini were alive today, even he would be asking this same question, "A Movie in Your Mind, ..How does GraphicAudio do it ?"

Annja, we need your help !

Some people are beginning to say, "GraphicAudio speaks - Body Language !"
