A reckoning that will destroy them all…

Trials, persecutions, false accusations, the Inquisition—for archaeologist and TV host Annja Creed, the current episode they're taping for her show is a fascinating one. But while Annja is filming the last segment in France, a vicious "accident" nearly kills her. It looks to be unintentional…until a man calling himself Cauchon claims responsibility.

The name Cauchon strikes a chord in the exceptionally—some might say unnaturally—long memory of Annja's friend and mentor Roux. Discovering the old man's secret years ago, Cauchon wanted to blackmail Roux before fate put the matter to rest. Or so Roux thought. Now this powerful fanatic has turned from seeking out the divine to meting out "justice." Vengeance. And he will single-handedly resurrect the violence of the Inquisition to ensure that Annja and her friend are judged and found guilty. With so much at stake, Annja may soon find that friendship can be fatal.

Day of Atonement by Bonnie (Posted on 7/27/2018)
I like the stories that include Roux and Garrin. The interplay between them adds to the excitement of the story with Annja sometimes in the middle. This time she is an innocent player that is caught up and almost killed because of her ties to Roux. Great story.

Good resurrection of a past villain..... and a good resolution as well.
good story by rafael (Posted on 11/30/2016)
this was a good story. I liked how it went back and told how things happened.
Roux Mistake by Daniel (Posted on 4/19/2016)
Not really a history or adventure story like many of the past Rouge Angels. Really Roux needs to learn from Garin and cleanup loose ends; unless crap like this happens. Love the dynamic in this one where we save damsel in distress and she don't need saving. There is a bit of mystic and magic but then maybe you think it just the crazy having his crazy visions; up in the air on that one.

There were times it felt like Roux and Garin were taking their sweet ass time while Annja had to do all the hardwork. Slow moments and I was like "Come on guys your at least 500 years old, be productive."And I don't like abrupt endings; it like the Sopranos all over again. I honestly couldn't tell it was the end I kept thing something was wrong with my download. I can go either way in this but the pace of it felt weird I can't tell if this all happens in a couple weeks or a day.
Another Thrilling Adventure! by Joseph (Posted on 11/1/2015)
Just finished listening to "Rouge Angel #54 - Day of Atonement" released by Graphic Audio.
Mom and Dad were huge fans of the Rogue Angel series produced by Graphic Audio. We always eagerly awaited the next release of Annja Creed's newest adventure and were avid listeners as we drove about in the van.
The action in "Day of Atonement" centers around an incident in Roux's life a little over 20 years ago when a freelance journalist stumbled upon the fact that Roux is immortal.
Roux attempts to silence the freelancer by ruining his reputation; but when the journalist attempts a blackmail attempt, Roux believes he had accidental caused the young man's death by chasing him into oncoming traffic.
Flash forward to a segment Annja is shooting for "Chasing History's Monsters" - the cable show she hosts - at one of the Inquisition's infamous prison castles. A loose stone plunges free from the castle and almost kills Annja. Then Roux gets a call from a man identifying himself as Cauchon - the name of the priest who signed Joan of Arc's death warrant over five centuries ago.
At first Roux doesn't make the connection. It's a very startled Annja who does. It may that someone has stumbled upon their secret and knows the truth about Annja, Roux, and Gauran. Annja asks Roux a very interesting question: "Could there be other people like us?" Implying she may be immortal too - though all three of them can be killed. Roux says "No, there are no others." Interesting how he knows that, and it's not further explored.
Meanwhile Gauran is set up to be the patsy for a murder. Annja is drugged and kidnapped.
And Cauchon - it's revealed - Spoiler Alert Here - is the man Roux thought he killed decades ago. Cauchon wants his revenge on Roux and he believes he'll have it be performing a weird exorcism on Annja to expel the soul of Joan of Arc from her and inhale it into him.
Now, once again, Annja plays bullets and sword - a Wonder Woman motiff - that's never has really been explained in the audio series as to how she discovered that she can use the sword to deflect bullets. We do know that the sword protects her and gives her accelerated healing abilities.
Another Great Entry In This Series!
Strongly Recommended!
