133 : Grim Choices

by James Axler
Nov 7, 2018
5 Hours
Ages 18+
After the events of Deathlands 131: Freak Pharm and the overthrow of the corrupt pseudo-medical theocracy there, Ryan Cawdor, Krysty Wroth and their fellow companions had decided that the recovering community of Bomville would likely be the safest place to prepare for the eventual birth of Krysty’s child, rather than venturing out yet again into the unknown. Otherworldly circumstances soon convince Ryan and Krysty that the opposite is true. With a small contingent of grateful residents from the community as escort, the companions set out on horseback for old Chicago, home of the closest redoubt they know of that contains a working mat-trans gateway. They hope to use the mysterious pre-nukecaust technology to diminish the daunting distance to Front Royal, the ville of Ryan’s birth, which they presume to be a safe haven now.

But the journey from former Baraboo Wisconsin to what was once called the Windy City is fraught with peril, and along the way, hard decisions must be made, invoking questions of loyalty and betrayal. The companions as a team will not survive the odyssey intact.

Deathlands 133: Grim Choices is an original Deathlands story written specifically for GraphicAudio and is available in no other format.

Back in the day when DL was in print it was often hit or miss depending on who the writer was. Since GA took over the stories are a lot better. They also keep getting better!

This one is no exception it was well written and exciting. Though i gotta admit i feel cheated by not hearing what went down in Bomville that sounded good.
Very good installment by Russ (Posted on 11/8/2018)
I like the direction the series is going. I started this audio journey when I traveled all over the country. I plan to continue even if Kristy has a mutant baby.
Very entertaining by Levi (Posted on 11/7/2018)
Deathlands has always been one of my favorite book series of all time. I'm gratified that GA are bringing continuity back to the back and have loved all of the titles written by GA so far. This one is especially wonderful for me as it offers something I've wanted for a while now; a change in the group roster. I am a slight bit disappointed with the details of this change, but understand and respect the decisions and look forward to the continuation of the story regarding this change.

On another note; I very much enjoyed the sub stories of this book. I was throughly entertained by the scene of the trial and by the character Forest. The voice Ryan is hearing had me cracking up with its good timing and I can not wait to find out who/what the voice is and how it will affect the story.

As always I am left wanting more. Great job to everyone responsible for making this production possible, and a special thanks to the people continuing to write this series!
